  1. From head-fi: My response - "You need better translation software." Reminds me of my favorite line from Rush Hour (movie) - "Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?"
  2. Very Cool! It will go well with my cans of CMMG Tactical Bacon ThinkGeek :: Tac Bac - Tactical Canned Bacon
  3. Sorry, I left out that I meant USD.
  4. The differences in price would have been nice to include on the graphic as well.

  6. That's sad - I heard about that on the radio.
  7. It always bothers me to watch people letting their electronics get wet.
  8. Thanks for that one - I ordered right away.
  9. Wasn't sure if this belongs in the iPhone thread or Mac thread, heh.

  11. Thanks.
  12. Sorry, post 11049 beat you to it.
  13. Wow, that's great! If I were to win the raffle I am likely giving the amp to my Brother-in-Law, to go with the headphones I gave him. If Collin wins I'll be sure to send him my bro's address...
  14. Timothy Leary would be proud of you.
  15. Agreed, In a moving car it's easier to forgive the mastering errors, loss of detail, noise floor, and bit rate issues. Somehow I've made it 4 years with the stock stereo in my Subaru, which is halfway decent if I turn up the treble over flat. But I'm still one of those people who listens to the same music via car stereo that I listen to in my headphone and speaker rig at home, at least when the kids are not with me. When they are with me, then I get to listen to their brick-walled crappy low bit rate alternative, punk, hip hop and pop. And sometimes I still find a gem in the music they like, while they find something in my library that they enjoy in return - without dealing with the technicalities and only enjoying the rhythm & groove of the song.
  16. The Joan Baez song is possibly the only one worth using to try out a new stereo (maybe also He Mele No Lilo" by Mark Keali'i Ho'omalu from Lilo and Stitch). But the iTunes 256K version sounds like poop during the 30 second demo. I have the CD and it's actually a decent recording, but they're trying to sell the 10 song playlist on iTunes and I think it's a rip off. I'm just curious what you guys recommend to others as test songs for a new system. I like to use the following as test music, not just for car stereo but headphones and home stereo. It's just a small portion of what I use and I can't pick just 10 songs. Most of it is Jazz Vocals and Folk Acoustic or Electronic. I have 8,621 songs on my Macbook and twice that on my iMac, so I'll spare you a list of everything. Shelby Lynn - Just a Little Lovin' Eva Cassidy (Live at Blues Alley) - Stormy Monday, Bridge over Troubled Water, and Aint No Sunshine (HDtracks) Diana Krall (Live in Paris) - Maybe You'll Be There, S' Wonderful, A Case of You Elaine Elias (Something For You: Eliane Elias Sings & Plays Bill Evans) - You And The Night And The Music, Evanesque, Solar, After All Sara K. (Chesky Ultimate Demonstration Disc) - If I Could Sing Your Blues Carla Lother (100 Lovers) - 100 Lovers Nancy Bryan (Neon Angel) - Nobody's Buying and most of all the other songs Herbie Hancock Feat. Norah Jones (River: The Joni Letters) - Court and Spark Leona Lewis (Avatar Soundtrack) - I See You (Theme from Avatar) Joan Baez (Diamonds and Rust) Nils Lofgren (acoustic live) - You, Keith don't go Jack Johnson (In Between Dreams) - Better Together Jack Johnson (On and On) - Times Like These Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds (Live at Radio City) - Save Me, Crush, So Damn Lucky (and many others) B.B. King & Eric Clapton (Riding With The King) - Worried Life Blues Bill Horist & Aiko Shimada (Poor Boy: Songs of Nick Drake) - Cello Song (HDtracks) Pink Floyd (Animals) - Dogs Pink Floyd (DSOTM) - Money B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray (Deluxe) - Don't Let Me Fall Evanescence (The Open Door) - Lithium Peter Asplund Quartet (As Kinights Concur) - in a Pensive Place Bill Evans (Waltz for Debbie) - My Foolish Heart Fourplay (Between the Sheets) - Chant E.S.T. Esbj
  17. I think that you can PM qusp, punnisher, barqy, highflyin9 and stevenkelby on head-fi and have them build you one.
  18. I wonder how, "I kissed Elmo" would go...
  19. I saw this tonight. GM audio engineer lists Top 10 songs to test your car's stereo Yahoo! Buzz So, what would be your top 10 songs to test a car audio system?
  20. I like the LCD-2 more than the T1, but you should find a headphone meet to give the T1 a try and decide for yourself. For tubes, I think the ZDT and Balancing Act are a good option. I'm pretty happy with my ZDT.
  21. I've been following that site since you posted about it at the other forum. I'm looking forward to episode 3.
  22. Well, I have one of these Akai portable DVD, but the coax S/PDIF output only seems to output with DVD and DVD-A. I've been meaning to investigate more to see if I can activate it with a music CD. Akai Pdvd 170 pdvd170 - Akai portable 7" dvd Player code free multiregion 110-220 volts pal ntsc I saw the Shanling CD player was mentioned, and I've heard good things about it. You could also try to pick up a used discontinued Sony portable CD with optical, like the D-EJ2000, D-NE20, or D-E999 like I did. I'm not convinced these are as good as my full size CD5001 as an optical transport. Maybe someone here can comment on the jitter levels with these PCDP? [i notice you mentioned cheap as a one criteria - this wont qualify at cheap, but the Nuforce CDP-8 is only about 1-2" wider than my Woo WA6, and about 2" tall and fits nicely under the WA6. But it's probably about 14" deep. It's RCA output beats my Apogee mini-DAC for refinement and soundstage, and it has RCA and BNC coax SPDIF out, but no optical. It also works great as a transport to my PWD, and it uses an upgraded constant speed optical drive with buffered output and jitter reduction (like the digital lens in the PWT but for hundreds less cost)]
  23. Poke it with a needle and see if Collin feels it.
