  1. I tried streaming video playlists to 1G ATV but can't find them on ATV.
  2. I'm out of town for thanksgiving, so unable to test until Saturday. Sorry.
  3. No, I can use what I have the way I want. It's the 2nd Gen ATV I'm trying to decide about, which I don't have yet. Well, actually I do want the airplay and netflix that Apple won't add to my 1st gen ATV through an update, but not all the headaches that go with not being able to sync only the content that I want viewable on that ATV.
  4. Because I don't have the 2nd Gen ATV to try it out yet. I'll buy one on black Friday.
  5. Not yet, I'm still using two 160Gb 1st Gen ATV. But I'm looking at getting a 2nd Gen in addition to those (three total for master bedroom, family room, home theater) - my other option was to find a 3rd 160Gb 1st Gen ATV. I believe I'll just have to get one and try it, and return it if I don't like it. I could always use VNC on my iPad to remote control my iMac iTunes app, and play to the ATV via airplay. Thanks, I do appreciate all the suggestions. I have been unchecking a small percentage of our files so that they don't sync to any of the iPods and iPad when they get caught in a playlist. If I uncheck a huge number of files so they don't sync to the ATV, then it means even more wont go to the iPad or iPods. But I suppose I could turn syncing of unchecked files to iPad and iPod back on, and just redo several of our music playlists so that those files don't appear in the playlists themselves. Then when the playlists sync the files will still not be included. Usually for every album we buy or rip I make a smart playlist for it, and I could just add more criteria to the playlist to exclude certain files instead of unchecking them. That way whether they are unchecked or not would only matter for the ATV. Unfortunately having 18,000 files in the 823 Gb itunes library makes this more time consuming. (My macbook pro has 9,500 files taking up 208 Gb).
  6. A few people have reported that their USB DAC/amp that worked before with the camera connection kit have now stopped working with 4.2, with the iPad telling them that they draw too much power. One person has the Nuforce uDAC, and another the iBasso D12. They claim they worked before and now they don't. On head-fi I posted a detailed report of 8 USB DAC/amps that work with iPad 3.2, and the uDAC and D10 were among those that work now. I am now waiting and watching to see if Apple killed this for all USB DACs or just some of them. I did save my SHSH blobs with tiny umbrella when I jailbroke it, and I suppose I could go to 4.2 and test it out, and return to 3.2.1 if I don't like it. But, I have the iPad working exactly the way I want it, and I don't want to screw it up or have to re-install everything and re-jailbreak it.
  7. Thanks, I've thought about a separate Mac, but likely wont do that. I also like iTunes to keep the content organized, so iTunes will move things around and wreck that hierarchy of iTunesRoot and AppleTVRoot. Plus the iMac is an older core 2 duo that only supports 3Gb RAM, and with two users logged in all the time we can't leave a VM running. So that makes the software solution less viable as well. There is another software solution that might work. I could possibly launch iTunes under my wife's log-in and open a separate library database, and set it's preferences to NOT move the original files that are added to iTunes. The media files would stay in their original location in "Users > Shared > iTunes" when I drag them onto the new iTunes library window. I'd then try to share my wife's limited library with the 2nd Gen ATV, while I still have iTunes open in my account and sharing everything with my Macbook (and syncing iPods and older ATV). I don't know if the 2nd Gen ATV would like having both users logged into iTunes with home-sharing turned on, but it would be worth a try. I use a similar method (but not identical) when I want to use my Macbook at a meet without people having access to my personal data, or being able to delete songs and playlists from within iTunes. I keep all the music and video files in the users > shared folder so they are available to more than just my account, but I set privileges for the folder so only administrators and I can modify the contents. For everyone else the media files are "read only". I load iTunes under my name and share only my lossless music playlist, then I switch to a generic user with few privileges and launch iTunes to open the shared playlist. Then everyone can play the shared playlist, but there are no actual files in the user's library to accidentally delete. Basically, I know that two users on the same mac can be logged into iTunes at the same time, as long as they have different library databases. It doesn't matter if they use the same media files. This might be the trick. Thanks!
  8. No. I want to be able to choose only 20-30 of the 800 movies to sync to the iPad, but NOT have to first go see if they are checked off or not every time I want to sync. I don't want to find out that they have been unchecked and not sync'd when I go to watch one. When I buy the kids a deluxe LP on iTunes with a large music video included, we sometimes uncheck the video so it doesn't sync to their iPhone and take up space. This frustrates them if I forget to re-check the box after their phone is sync'd, because then when the ATV syncs they don't get the video there where they want it. Unchecking items so they do not sync is a PITA.
  9. Well, then I can't sync that stuff to my iPhone/iPad until I recheck it. I only want to have our favorite movies/shows/music show up on ATV, not everything. But unchecking 600 movies out of 800, just so only the top 200 show up on Apple TV is a bit too much work. Can I tell iTunes to only share those playlists with ATV, or is everything still available? And to be sure, you're saying that I can make a playlist of my favorite 100-200 movies, and then find the movie and play it from the the playlist. I've only used playlists for music before.
  10. I thought this bumper sticker was appropriate - I took this photo of the car in front of me at a stop light, but forgot about it:
  11. I ask this question again, since I never got an answer. With the new Apple TV is there a way to limit which movies, TV shows and music that streams to it (other than with parental controls), so that those of us with huge iTunes libraries don't spend an hour scrolling through the list of everything available in the library just trying to find something that looks interesting to watch or listen to? I've tried setting my 1st Gen ATV to stream everything to see what it's like, and I can't deal with the huge number of files in the library that show up as I'm scrolling through my content. I have ripped hundreds of DVD and have a hi-res and low-res copy of each, and same with my music where I have a 320K and ALAC version of everything I rip. I only want my favorite 100-200 movies or shows to be listed for watching, and maybe 100-200 albums as well, etc...
  12. Then do the TP trade, and if you don't like the HE-6 you'll make money selling off the HE-6. I've posted my HE-6 impressions on the other forum, and they're one of my favorite headphones. Their clarity, detail and transparency is amazing, and I love how they sound good at low listening volumes where with other phones I feel the need to turn up the volume to hear deeper into the music. I personally have no problem with their soundstage or imaging.
  13. Based on your sonic tastes, I'm not sure the HE-6 would be a good match for you; but you'd have no problem selling them to get your money out of them if you don't like them.
  14. I've sat in both back seats, although on different days and not immediately after one another; and the G35x seems to be slightly wider than the 2010 WRX, although the person sitting in the center rear is perched higher and more precariously in the G35x. The biggest improvement in the G35x rear seating is in the legroom. With the WRX's driver seat slid back to a comfortable position for me as a driver, when I went to sit in the back seat I found the leg room of the WRX was totally inadequate. With the G35x I could adjust the driver's seat and then move to the back seat and still have room for my legs (I'm 5'-9"). The G35x back seat also seems a little wider than the back seat of our 2005 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS, with a lot more leg room as well. Our Tribeca has a little better rear seat width than any of the above, but the G35x has just as good leg room or better in the back. With the Tribeca the kids sometimes complain that the front seats are too far back, but the G35x seems to be less of an issue. I need to keep the front seats slid back enough to stretch out my bad knees, and doing this doesn't kill the back seat's leg room in the G35x.
  15. I believe the 306hp engine in the 2nd generation G35x is supposed to be a bit nicer than the 1st gen (which I think was 280hp). (I was thinking second generation was 2007-2008 ). This one does pull nicely from a stop and through low revs, even at 6,000 feet elevation. True, gas mileage sucks but it's no worse than my Tribeca and both are getting about 17mpg in city only driving because we live up a big hill and that eats into the mileage a lot up here. This car is pretty refined in ride and build quality, but I agree it's not on par with a BMW. However, I can't afford to maintain a BMW over the life of the car. The A4 and S60 were other cars I was interested in, but I only like the 2011 models and I like too many things that I can't afford.
  16. Ask Elephas, he knows exactly what to tell you about them.
  17. That's pretty funny how the front girl's arm looks like a naked body for the girl in back.
  18. Sorry for more off topic, but what do you currently use to drive them?
  19. You could make money doing wood cups for Grados and Denon - there's always a market for that, and you don't need to sell complete phones that way.
  20. I agree, it's a good phone but still has some issues. In comparing them side by side with the HP-1000 I definitely preferred the HP-1000, which I wish I hadn't sold... Strangely I'm noticing a similar quality in my Smegma Pro, which has me thinking about selling those. Did you ever hear that with yours?
  21. That's one of the reasons I decided on the new Silver Dragon which is thinner and more flexible. The weight of the ALO cable put me off a bit.
  22. Wow, that cat food looks good enough for people to eat. Get well soon!
  23. I still feel the LCD-2 really benefit from a re-cable, and at RMAF I just didn't enjoy them as much stock as when I tried the ALO 8-wire or Silver Dragon cable, regardless of source and amp. The source and amp did make a bigger difference, but even with the best source and amp they only seemed truly transparent and disappeared with the upgraded cable as the final tweak. At that point the transparency was closer to my O2 Mk1 which have a similar sound signature and soundstage. I look forward to reading that review when I get home this afternoon. But I look forward more to getting my Silver Dragon cable and rolling tubes in my ZDT to make them a better match. I have a brighter Telefunken smooth plate 12AX7 that I'd like to try soon. They did a great job in the old GES with the treble in the O2 Mk1, but I'm being too OCD about splitting up a matched quad to use just one with the ZDT.
  24. Thanks for the impressions. Were all three amps acceptable sounding with the 407 and 507? Which did you prefer?
  25. Happy birthday! So sue me, it was the best photo I could find.
