  1. Welcome SD. Here you will feel like at home once you learn about the peculiarities of the gang. Great people nevertheless. Just avoid the void and you'll be fine
  2. Happy Birthday!!!!
  3. ^ LOL, keep dreaming!
  4. Maybe Nate can assist with some sort of receipt of his work and parts value. Good luck CJ Ooopss I missed a lot of replies that came before this one. Glad to see Nate coming to the rescue
  5. Trying to probe my thin skin? hehehe Sorry to read that, I had chosen a very nice CD to send to my gift-pal Which by the way, I've been able to get and perhaps, only perhaps, even signed by the artist.
  6. IME tube dampers help a little with tubes that are very slightly microphonic, and in some tube models, change sound when there's no microphony at all, but once you have a tube converting a finger tap in clear audible "thump" they're completely useless. Replace those tubes, hopefully the same one being microphonic is the one about dying and causing the rest of problems.
  7. Glad to participate. I already know what CD I'll be sending if I can get it, so mate me with someone appreciating vocal jazz. No problems sending Worldwide.
  8. They seem to be stuck in the prejudiced notion that second and in general even harmonics produce warmth and fuller body on the sound. That's false or in the least not completely true -in any case not the absolute truth I'm afraid-. I read an old paper some time ago (sorry I can't give the reference) presented at the AES showing that no distortion is perceived as better sounding and more natural than ANY kind of distortion, but that if you introduced distortion then it sounded better when being of even order. I've found myself that very good tube gear and very good SS one tends to sound very very alike, and that very good digital systems can be very analogue sounding, though I'm not sure that completely indistinguishable from good analogue. The question IMO is more what kind of sound makes you enjoy the most, than trying to set a standard of absolute sound or what should be the right one. Modern digital recordings of commercial music sound like crap, probably not for the use of digital gear to master them, but for the huge amount of compression used. On the right digital system some of the first CD releases which weren't compressed nor remastered, sound damn good to me.
  9. Very welcome mate. Wonderful you arrived safe and those little presents got there in time for your enjoyment
  10. Paraphrasing others, fuck a lot on your happy birthday
  11. have a great one Billy
  12. Maybe not acidic but just rich in cetane, or perhaps sugar and you get bacterias doing the rest of the job. Who knows, whatever it is, it probably is related to your sweat considering you just use the phones at the gym.
  13. Terrific news Luis, I'm glad you're such a lucky man Maybe you've spent your dose of good luck for this year, however you might want to check it further by buying some lottery tickets hehehehe. Big hugs mate
  14. Maybe it's your sweat damaging the wire sheath. I knew a man whose sweat corroded the paper clips he touched with his fingers a few days after doing so. It was so "strong" that mosquitoes never bit him unless he was just coming out from water. Fortunately it wasn't fetid hehehehe.
  15. 9 hours to go and still at 2600$... I don't think they end at that price
  16. You put a lot of courage to save your dog Luis, my sincere admiration. Keep us posted, I wish your apartment wasn't among those 50 and you still have your belongings awaiting you there. Otherwise, no worries mate, they're just things and although some might be irreplaceable, you and yours are safe
  17. This looks like a user-IEM incompatibility issue. I have three mates using those same IEMs and none had the slightest problem However I'd get something else anyway hahaha
  18. Yep, one of the best anti resonant enclosures available. They also make wonderful weighty pieces of gear, which many people seems to love.

^ LOL, did he attend the Tampa meeting too?
  21. Very cool indeed. I imagined her being a bit older, probably for her mature posts How good is she on the guitar? hehehe. Damn, those comments about the Blue Circle are starting to raise my curiosity. I hate you all Would anybody having listened to it paired with the R10 care to comment a bit in deep about the results? Is it "pratty", warm, analytical, tonally correct, spacious...? Tried other phones with it?
  22. Been watching the pics at the other site. Is the girl playing the black Stratocaster Vicki? It'd be great putting names to all the people
  23. OMG glad to know Ken is safe and his house is not affected, but very very sorry for Luis Stay safe mate, luckily you weren't inside sleeping when the fire got to it
  24. Yep. I guess if that's to make them looking better when you're on stage. Not sure how much the top material influences the final sound. LOL@Nate. To each one his own I guess. There's "some" people willing to spend big bucks in top performance headphones. I haven't listened to the D7000 nor the fully recabled, recupped, balanced and modded D5000, so I can't offer an opinion about them. My basic modded D5000 have some potential, but I wouldn't be spending much more on them to see how far they can get. They still would have an excessive bass, and I already have quite good cans with excessive bass
  25. Nate, for your figures on the recabling job, that's a 40% gross benefit from the retail price, which by no means is excessive for any kind of business. Before I started working in my present job, I worked for an import company in Spain that traded with health products. Their gross benefit on retail price was about 50-60% depending on the buyer and payment method. In any case I wouldn't call that 40% a rape or a scam. Perhaps it's an excessive profit from any DIYer's perspective, but maybe not that much if he's really trying to make of his company a profitable business. Is there any connection in between Mark and ALO? I know you dislike ALO too, and I can guess why, but to be honest, it's none of my business. I have my own ideas about wires, none of them is spending on the cables more than in the device they will hook up. Regarding the plastic guitar, you'll probably have heard some Ovation guitars. Their tone is quite distinctive and different from any full wood body ones. I prefer a Martin
