  1. The Spanish Team has been thinking about how to build their Dynafets and we have agreed to try the following: - Making it balanced (4 boards) in such a way that when used in SE, it can work as a double SE amp, with separate outputs and volume controls (but sharing the same input signal) For this we have thought that using separate volume controls (for each channel in balanced and each amp in SE) is needed. We'd like to use the J4cbo controller board with its SMD attenuator, however we don't know if it can be configured as needed to have the separated SE amps in the way described above. Any thoughts or suggestions?
  2. J.J. Cale - Roll On [2009] Liking it quite a bit
  3. You shouldn't need it to use a balanced source to feed SE headphones, in this case you'd be using just 2 of the 4 boards on your Dynafet. You need the trafos to use a SE source to properly feed balanced phones using the 4 boards.
  4. Yep, my wrong, the Talemas are power transformers (so input into the PS) but won't substitute the Sowters or anything else for the SE/balanced conversion. I think we are not using them, or if needed, would be purchased directly to Sowter in UK. I think all of the Spanish Team members have balanced sources. Anyway, I'm waiting for Picaudio's thoughts though
  5. Looks like Team Spain will go for the encapsulated Talema input trannies. Good enough, locally available and well priced. However I'll have Picaudio to have a look and decide about it.
  6. Guys, I'm glad you like Supertramp and don't think it's just "easy prog rock" for uneducated adults. Some of my friends think they are, hence my guilty pleasure liking them
  7. Glad you're glad with the purchase. Enjoy them!

Shave them. No fur no hum
  9. It's my time to confess a few guilty pleasures of mine: - Beyonce. I know it's pop-dance crap, but I like her singing and can enjoy the groove of her tunes. Father forgive me for feeling good listening to her last album. Same goes for other of these pop divas like Aaliyah, Madonna or even the infamous Pussy Cat dolls - Amy Winehouse. I know her music is just yet another soul-pop act, the lyrics are only so so, mostly her despair for being different, and she's quite a made up product. However there's something in her voice and the way she sings that I find deeply emotional. Since Billie Holiday I've not found a singer that moves me that much for the sincere pain into her singing. I'm growing older I guess. - Supertramp. Oh yes, I love their four albums from Crisis, What Crisis? to Breakfast in America. Don't ask, while Crime of the Century might not be considered a bad one, I know the rest aren't that good, however they're the type of music that has it all for me and which I can enjoy on repeated listening as much as Pink Floyd, Beatles, Rollings or Led Zep. Something similar, but less intense, happens to me with Police (also Sting ) and Dire Straits. And if all that wasn't enough to deserve punishment, now the bomb: I like Phil Collins too. I love his "face value" Please be gentle
  10. Wrecked, MJ was meant to be listened thru the bass heavy R10, or even the bass-lite ones if you can live with less than adequate "disco bass". Only then you realize the man can sing
  11. I wish you a great Bday mate, enjoy yourself a lot
  12. Oh come on, now post a condom pic
  13. You probably have, but weren't aware of it. I was for some time using a Sony player as a transport, whose digital output happened to end up failing and needing fixing. The first thing I noticed, a few hours before it failed and digital out muted, was a harsher sound that was only noticeable to me in two main areas, the voices quality and as though certain details were enhanced, things like the bowing on a double bass which became too noticeable. Those are sounds that once I've learned to spot, would make evident the type of connection I'm using, then knowing if I'm using a toslink or a coaxial connection. Maybe that difference in sound is not just because of jitter, however it's one of the few measurable parameters differentiating them.
  14. I suppose you're addressing that to Padam, I not even know where to bid for them
  15. Cooking. I'm always amazed for how a meal can change just by adding a few spices or getting the preparation procedure right.
  16. That Alpha is one of the very few DACs currently made which raises my interest. If you ever manage to listen to it...
  17. Mmm at that price I wouldn't mind getting a pair, just for collection sake

  19. Nice Justin. Would you post some impressions? I'm very interested in knowing how it performs in the CD transport role.

    TKD pot

I have a TKD stepped attenuator mounted in my tube integrated. For its size no other stepped would fit. A very good upgrade from Alps. I don't know how their potentiometers are, but if it has the same quality, I'd keep it for the Dyna
  21. Happy Bday
  22. Thanks Pars. I've checked those in the spreadsheet and seem to be CR1, CR2, CR3 and CR4 so two of each per board are needed. How many of them would you suggest to get for spares, a whole set for each board? That's some dough.
  23. Hi Pars, Would you be so kind to specify which diodes should we get for spares? I don't see them in the speadsheet, so my guess is that the Power module just comes with the units needed.
  24. I will handle payment for all 8 S22 kits in a single order, I'm arranging things with the other Spanish Gang mates. I will ask PICaudio about the power modules, I don't know if he wants to use anything special. Also comment him about the diodes. When all this is sorted out I'll PM you Icarium, so we can arrange payment to Jeff.
  25. As I said in the PM I sent, I'm hesitant about those "Power entry modules" which aren't included and I wonder if they're needed for anything, maybe just making connections easier or whatever. Otherwise I'd be ready to order payment, just needing Paypal address confirmation.
