  1. Torpedo

    slow forum

This was a tough one, but still arrived in 5 hits: Modal Verb>False Friend>West Germany>Nazism>Adolf Hitler
  2. Congratulations MPI. More than for participating in the Tchaikovsky contest, for finding such a good teacher who is supporting and encouraging you. I've seen so many times true talent wasted for the envy, lack of intelligence and talent of bad teachers, that knowing there are still good ones, kind of reconciles me with the human kind. I'm afraid I won't be able to watch it on TV, no channel here broadcasts those things, but if it's available online, I will.
  3. No way! Some day I'll be selling it along the rest of the dynamic shit and I want it to be immaculate
  4. Yep, that one looks like mine. Still using the 230-100V step down with it. Once I looked inside and we determined it couldn't be converted for 230V operation, I placed it in the rack and forgot about measuring those primaries. I agree with Birgir, my guess is they are for 100/117 V operation.
  5. Never mind Wayne. At that moment I felt bad but now it's long gone. I like to think I'm not a jerk, but as everything in life, it's debatable I've never listened to music using the DT-48, just test tones and sweeps. Those phones are a reference for psychoacoustic studies in medicine. I happened to work at a place that had them about 18 years ago (more or less). I found them very uncomfortable and didn't feel tempted to try them with the Discman I had by those days. When I read about people using them for music... To each one his/her own I guess
  6. They're launching anniversary headphones too. Nothing to be excited if they're using the same D5000/D7000 Fostex drivers.
  7. Looks cool, kinda like it, but for the champagne metal parts. Or is it the light?
  8. Maybe you wouldn't recall, but once you called me a jerk at HF for saying that some guy there, raving madly about the DT-48, then selling them, was a disgusting thing to do hahahaha. I think you purchased those DT-48, now I know your opinion
  9. Thanks for the impressions, Al. I'll have to give it a listen then. Sketches of Spain, nice choice. As things are going by over here that album should be renamed to "bits and pieces of Spain" Reks, I love that Horace Silver too, one of my all time favorite albums. We both lost our fathers being very young, so it must have some deep meaning or something. Now listening to Katy Perry - Teenage Dream. A foreseeable sequel to her first one. I wonder if this girl would be able to sing a shit without the vocoder/auto-tune on. Then this rather nice album: Alicia Keys - Unplugged
  10. I like her first album, not that much the second, though it's not bad. Have yet to listen the new one. I hope Al tells us something.
  11. Happy B-Day Mat-e
  12. Sorry you're in that phase. Most of us are still in the almost always hard phase
  13. Truly sorry Steve, my condolences and a big hug for you.
  14. Scary story Brent. Glad it all ended up well. She probably just wanted to make herself noticeable, all you're passing through is harder -if possible- for the kids.
  15. Have a great day
  16. Happy B-Day Sorry for your eardrum tube. Get well soon!
  17. Best wishes Brent, knowing you're doing the right thing helps a lot. Kind of peace of mind.
  18. Baron Rojo - Volumen Brutal
  19. and at Town Hall and other administration positions
  20. Happy Birthday

Hahahaha, if you were eating every 2-3 hours you'd poop a lot too . Congratulations again, she's so sweet!!
  22. "No reason not to be excessive". Sounds like a great custom title for you
  23. Thanks for your sympathy Deepak. I still have to contact Stax somewhere in Europe (not the Spanish rep who would send it to Japan and charge me an arm and a leg) to see if they can fix it. The silliest part is how it blew up. Just for a few sweat drops of mine -it was hot and I was working cleaning and adjusting things in the rig- which managed to get into the thing and create an arcy-sparky act 2x
  24. Patxi is FJ here. He reads the forum when has some time, but is too shy to participate. He's experienced, owns a headphone collection in the impressive side of things, and still thinks he's a newbie. I wouldn't say he owns a machine shop, that of his is more a factory. They produce custom metal pieces for aircrafts, civil engineering (like airports and such), ships... so finishes aren't exactly their thing. That prototype shows different finishes in the front, back and cover. The JR like in the front will be improved The aluminum used for it is actually a true milspec aircraft alloy which he chose for its heat dissipation and hardness properties. The thing in person is really impressive, no pics I've seen make true justice to that chassis. I can't wait to have the final thing made Even more now that my 717 is dead
