To those of you who take amazing photos and post them in the internets, this could be of interest. -

Sorry, Jacob. Fortunately she didn't break the jaw. No stitches, just glue? I wish she heals well and quickly

My bad, I didn't word it right. I've tried it, I'm listening to quite some DSD rips lately. What I meant was that I can't find any difference from playing native DSD into the Mytek, or playing the 24/88 FLAC files made from the DSD.

Brent, that's awesome. Some help on your fund too

Just wanted to comment about the Myted 192DSD. As you know at other forum there's people who didn't like it at all, although I didn't find all those nasties, mainly harsh treble and lean bass. IMO the thing sounds in the detailed studio-stuff side of things, but pretty enjoyable to these aging ears. None the less, I read there also about a setting which may be changed, which has some repercussion on sound quality. It's just changing 4 jumpers position to lower the DAC chip output, I guess that by lowering its reference voltage. This lowers the analog output too. Since I found the "normal" output a bit hot compared to normal 2V RMS output devices, even compared to the DA-11 set at 3V RMS (Bidat's output level), I decided to give the setting a try. It makes for a very welcome difference. I'd say the benefit is mostly in the bass, which becomes bolder, more natural, then producing the effect of damping a bit the perceived detail and eventually the "trebleness". The Mytek still has a higher output level than the Lavry set at 2V RMS output. I don't think that at the default setting it's clearly overloading the amp's input, but it's possible the overloaded part is the DAC's PS hence producing an inferior sound quality. The Benchmark DAC2 was among my other options, but since I didn't like the DAC-1 very much, I thought giving the Mytek a try was worth it. Either way the FW connection is a very welcome feature in this current setup. The DSD thing is fun too, but I'm rather hesitant that playing DSD rips in its native format has any benefit compared to a well processed 24/88 file from it.

Have a great ride, Jeff.

It looks awesome, Tom. Those speakers have been catching my attention for years, but I'm afraid I won't be able to ever listen a pair. Are you liking them?

So Ken, your niece not only isn't a child anymore (which I thought she was) plus is a DDD whose charms got her a new bike. Amazing. I'm glad she's not needing the cast that long. The tibial plateau fractures are bitches, but if she's not going to need surgery, will be OK.

IMO Webber would make an excellent second driver for Ferrari. He and Alonso respect each other very much and are kind of friends. Dasha is a cute girl, and seems sweet. The former wife wasn't bad either, not so flashy (perhaps fashionable is the word) but didn't show as much interest for races as Dasha. I wish fanatism doesn't spoil Bahrain's date. I'll be working so not sure I can watch the race

Thanks, now we need to make sure they still keep some of those kits in stock. At other sites they're back ordered, perhaps discontinued. That very same screen protector model isn't available at Amazon.es, but they have this and this which don't look bad. Regarding the memory, if the kit doesn't include a card, I had thought to get him something like this Lexar or this Sandisk -

Thanks for the replies and the generous offer, cj. The guy has some photography knowledge, but I wouldn't say he's a power user. However he's clever and a quick learner, so IMO the camera with the higher potential would fit him best. From this POW the 5100 could be a better idea. I also think he'll take more profit from the zoom lens until he figures out if he's "that interested" in photography. I've spotted a few interesting offers. - One, the one looking best, includes the 5100 body with a 18-105 f/3.5-5.6G ED VR objective. This would leave us some dough to get him a decent memory card. - For almost 90 euros less the objective could be the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S DX VR which perhaps is too basic, but going this cheap would allow us to get a spare battery or a bag. - On the other end of the offers, the highest I think we could reach is the D5100 with two zoom objectives the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S DX VR and the 55-200 f/4-5.6 AF-S DX VR I really don't know how good are those objectives, possibly the two zooms option is overkill but if the quality is good and he'll be well served, even future proof in case he wants a higher end body, we could sacrifice the memory card and other ancillaries for this. Possibly the choice with the 55-105 is a save midfield, but if the objective is crap, then we would avoid it. Unfortunately geting the 5100 with a 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR-II AF-S DX gets too expensive. Any further advice will be very welcome. Thanks. -
That's awful. I'm sorry for the victims, but relieved none of you or your relatives have been involved, mates.

I need some advice from the Nikon experts. Our elder resident is about to end his formation and we have the tradition to give them a party and a decent gift. Looks like this year the gift is going to be a DSLR camera. The budget will be in the 600-700 euros (use € as $ for cameras are here more expensive than in the US). With this we can get him a newer Nikon D3200 with a 18-55 lens, or an older D5100 with a similar zoom lens. If we're lucky and get together more money, we might stretch to a D5200 body, so no lens. Opinions, other alternatives? -

I've had a lot of fun today watching it. Poor Weber though, suspicious too much bad luck for a weekend. Massa should have left Ferrari long ago.
