  1. that's sad, Jacob. I'm sorry for your inconveniences and also for the poor old lady.
  2. I could live with that hadn't other amps, but some of my friends who listened to the combo (who by the way love the O2) found the HD800-B22 pairing unlistenable. To each one his own, I guess.
  3. What a pity, you could have placed a nice headphone rig in that space. Music makes shitting way more pleasant
  4. Really? OMG now I understand that funny smell.
  5. I was thinking there was a MBA with retina display, that'd be ideal Now seriously the weight isn't that different just 300grs. Battery life seems to be way larger, specially the 13" MBA. For a bit more money you can swap the HDD in the rMBP for a SSD, so weighs are more similar and probably battery life will be longer too.
  6. I've listened to the HD800 (which I own, modded according--more or less-- to Anaxilus/Tyll directions) with the Beta22 (mine is a Nugget Audio unit). It's a great system, very good sound quality, but a bit brittle, not really involving and enjoyable in the lush-musical sense. Sound-wise it's awesome, plenty of detail and rough quality. The Gilmore Reference (kind of GS-X) or the Luxman are more musical and enjoyable. It all comes down on what type of sound you enjoy and like better. The 3000ANV are nice cans, but not really in the same league of resolution, detail and balance as the HD800. For closed cans are fun though. Still unsure if I like the L3000 better.
  7. Happy Birthday!!!!
  8. ^This. Following one's heart and instinct is what usually ends up making one happy. It's just that sometimes it takes some time to show. And it's not always the easiest path.
  9. I didn't know about the track volunteer. Sad news The race was fantastic. I still think that RB cheats and does something to Vettel's car which the FIA is yet to find out. It make no sense, regarding time differences during the training sessions and previous races, that Vettel after just a couple of turns was almost 3 seconds ahead Hamilton. He's not that good driver. And he's damn lucky, he might have well ruined the race when went off the track after the chicane a few turns before the end, when it was obvious he was going to win. One of these days we'll know Massa also did a great race. Surprisingly good despite his disastrous Q2 and the previous race at Monaco. Same did Kimi, he's one of the great drivers. Sergio Perez and Pastor Maldonado aren't that far in dangerousness from Grosjean. This just takes things a bit further

Complete agreement on Black Magic Woman and Carlos. The Peter Green/Fleetwod Mac original isn't the same. What about Cake's take on "I will survive"? http://youtu.be/cvsI3jc4pPA

My favorite cover of Over the Rainbow http://youtu.be/4RDmXsGeiF8
  12. Wow. Vodka or one eye blindness, perhaps both.
  13. BSO + Piatigorski + Munch - Dvorak & Walton Cello Concertos (RCA Living Stereo) A DSD rip of this SACD. It sounds awesome, I'd say clearer and deeper than the CD.
  14. This is the cover of a street lighting conduction in Valencia city, featuring its coat of arms. I hadn't ever noticed the funny coincidence
  15. Wow, that first interview was more than one year ago. It sounds promising
  16. The speakers don't look bad, but if they sound as every 805 iteration... The headphones might be good, the P5 aren't that bad, just overpriced, so the P5ME, moar overpriced
  17. Kill those viruses soon cj, get well.
  18. Looks like someone is abusing "his" HD800 Great albums there, Jacob. Elgar: Enigma Variations - Sir Colin Davis, London Symphony Orchestra 10th variation "Nimrod" (on other recordings it's the ninth) is a moving piece of music. I attended a LSO concert a few days ago, under Michael Tilson Thomas. The extra piece out of program was this short piece, they played it to Sir Colin Davis memory. It's been one of the most moving music moments I've experienced
  19. Hehehehe, I was going to say that "Triode" would be more adequate than "crap", but it would make for a funny motto.
  20. You may wish to change the "All Tiode..." inscription in the center of the board
  21. Best headphone in the world is the one I'm enjoying at that moment. It's never a Beyer though
  22. Happy birthday to DOTU's dad, and congrats to Jacob. You're da cook
  23. Because for the headphones I've had the chance to listen and to see measurements that have inconsistencies, the brightness due to frequency peaks shows in different ways than the one due to response peaks. Response peaks don't have a delay, some sort of echo effect which can be heard playing stuff at higher volumes. I'm not saying their brightness is for resonance problem or delayed energy issues, just that to my ears, until measurements prove me wrong, I think the brightness is coming more likely for that than a pure response peak from the driver.
  24. I still think everything comes down to the mixing and mastering. For some reason, they took better care of them when the final product was going to be a DSD release than other formats. Good recordings sound awesome on any format.
  25. Thanks, I didn't know they were going that expensive. I have a pair in very good condition, not recabled. I find them in the bright side of things, it'd be interesting to see them measured. IMO the brightness comes more from some delayed energy in the treble than from a response peak. With good ancillaries and recordings they sound pretty good and enjoyable. For my taste, which is probably defective
