  1. IMHO Stax have a reputation of delivering their products at the best price they can afford. This is what explains their tendency to bankrupt. Their products are as reliable and well built as it gets. More competition wouldn't mean cheaper-better products, but perhaps right the opposite, worse products made at lower cost and using poorer materials and QC at the same prices, so profit is larger with lower sales. I may be wrong but electrostats, needing dedicated specialty amps which can't be shared to drive cheap dynamic headphones, aren't going to become a consumer market thing no matter how good and cheap you can sell them. If not why isn't people going nuts getting a 207/252S combo, when it outperforms most mid budget dynamic combos? I see Stax as Linux, something that is good, but that if you don't try and face some restrictions and difficulties, you won't get to know how good it really is.
  2. Happy BDay!!!

  7. Sure, but somehow they don't have a great appreciation, and aren't that affordable. It'd be great a big good sounding electrostatic headphone plus amp at the price of the SR-003 with its portable energizer.

  9. I wish Kingsound makes good electrostats at affordable prices, more people need to become familiar to them, but the don't know yet.
  10. Looking for the brand/model of those speakers, which look quite nice, Google image threw this to me Definitely orange is the new black
  11. My first decent approach to what Hifi could be, about 35 years ago, was listening to a Bose 901 based system powered by Harman Kardon amps. That was pretty enlightening, good enough to get me engaged to this hobby. Of course I hadn't listened to any higher quality system before, so memory's tendency to embellish the recalls and the lack of perspective make for a beautiful wrong impression, but I still keep some respect for their older stuff. I haven't listened to a Bose system in years.

  13. That sucks guys. Grahame, has it been mentioned the indication of an articulation capsule biopsy?
  14. This. Looks like the AKG 812 is a reply to nothing since everything seems to be better.
  15. It's just a prototype... wait, all Hifiman thingies look like prototypes
  16. I'd be happy with my back getting normal and being able to do whatever. Just swimming would be great.

  18. Jacob, paper, specially newspaper paper, is an excellent heat insulator, as many homeless people and cyclists know. It works on air, as Dusty suggested with the bubble wrap, but IMO produces a more homogenous layer.

  20. You mean the Hifiman, right? I'm somewhat allergic to that brand. Prejudicious dick thinking on my part.
  21. Kinda little bit expensive for a portable thingie

Oh, this reminds me of a Fender which was somehow digitized and could change its tonality and do a whole lot of interesting things. No idea if that got any acceptance or success, or how it sounded.
  23. This. Your storms get here a few days later, but no snow, just rain and wind, fortunately temperatures don't drop below 0ÂșC.
