  1. Oh yeah, those are thermistors for temp compensation. Didnt even see them. Definitely would benefit from some heatshrink. I think the white boxes are actually resistors, but cant tell for sure.
  2. Yeah, normally it is two resistors paralleled for greater power handling, but it looks like you just got single larger resistors. I tend to use 91% or 99% isopropyl alcohol on cotton balls for cleaning off flux, but I also tend to bubble the ends, so the cotton doesnt catch. A toothbrush may work better for you. Acetone works great too, but you have to be a bit careful.
  3. What capacitors? R6 and R7?
  4. Got a Stax SRE-725 with the plug end cut off, so added a WPI jack.

  6. I havnt had any problems with my WRT54G-TM, but I am also running the DD-WRT firmware on it. Also have too slow an internet connection to notice any limitations there, and dont use the network for any other purposes, such as LAN gaming.
  7. This may be a more involved modification than you are looking for, but you could just look into changing out the I/V resistor used in the MiniDAC. Pretty sure this uses the AD1955, and has a pretty standard opamp I/V, so should be fairly easy to find this resistor and simply replace it. True, you would be making a fairly large change, so should also change some of the LPF components, but nothing too radical. Beta22 isnt stable below a gain of 2, right? Off topic, but those Donuts doin OK for you?

That video played probably 40 times over the course of 3 days in the office where I work when it first came out.
  9. I have one just like it, actually wear it a fair bit too. So far, no one has figured out what d-_-b is. Closest guess was ear boobs.
  10. Normal bias SR-Lambda showed up today. Very much midbass heavy, but thats probably due to the missing damping layer. I sure dont remember them sounding like this when I last heard them. I would currently rank my my Stax as SR-404>Lambda Pro>Lambda. ESP/950 is the best of the lot though.

  12. The ER20 have saved my ears at several concerts too. Wouldnt consider going to one without them.
  13. Yeah, I have heard that stuff is very nice, but never tried it for myself. Honestly, I just usually massively overbuy on parts like transistors, so just cut the old ones out and replace them.
  14. Heat all three legs together by flooding them with solder.
  15. So what you are really saying is there are no other easy, off the shelf, ways to get low jitter from SPDIF? If you are willing to do some custom work, there are quite a few other approaches. Various ways of making secondary PLL circuits, slaved transports, or forget SPDIF and use async USB.
  16. Incorrect, plenty of other good options. Mouser now carries this, and some of the other nice Wolfson stuff.
  17. Passed MoCo written test and interview this morning.

  19. Well, Yamas got back with me. $35 for just the cloth strap.
  20. Normal bias SR-Lambda. I just kinda want a new strap, as the plastic on the current one is a bit cracked and the material is showing signs of age. Tracking shows them at my PO, so should be waiting for me when I get home.
  21. Happy Birthday Al!
  22. Happy Birthday Gary!
  23. Kinda what I was thinking, but I dont know what density the stock is or what to get there.
  24. Seems Yamas wants $12 for a pair of replacement mineral wool damping biscuits and $8 for a pair of foam covers for the SR-Lambda. Havnt heard back about a replacement headband strap, but while this doesnt seem completely unreasonable, I would definitely be interested if anyone has a bit more economical source for replacements. The first two I cant imagine are Stax specific items, just cut to size.
