Plus, when you look at the high rez photos, it becomes clear that this is just another dynamic headphone. http://www.beyerdynamic.de/uploads/tx_sbttnews/T1_3c_01.jpg
  2. Well duh, its not a DAC.
  3. I am still a student, its just my one class is Jogging. Still get all the student benefits this way, namely keeping my job.
  4. First day of work for me since the semester started (yesterday). Its kinda nice to have the campus full again, even though I know it means more work. Ah well, at least I am graduated.
  5. Some Electra-print iron.
  6. Yeah, definitely pass on that "upgrade".
  7. Ouch, broken VC wire isnt gonna be a fun fix.
  8. Mine has a bit of a squeal. Still gotta send it back.
  9. Just got back from visiting the family in SC. 12 hours in the car sucks.
  10. Went to Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room in Savannah today with the family for lunch. Probably about as good eating as I have ever had, bar none. Place doesnt look like much, and its just maybe 10 tables tops with the food served family style, but holy cow is it good. Got back, hung around with the family a bit, then hit the gym.
  11. Pete Millett has used them I know. Guess that is to be expected.
  12. I have had a few of those shear cutters go bad, but mainly the tips bend and no longer cut. Rocking an Xcelite 170D right now, which has been quite good to me.
  13. The stock pads and reliability are my two biggest issues with the ESP950. Sound is great, frame is middlin, pads and reliability suck. At least it doesnt really fart though, but that probably has more to do with the fact that the pads dont even approach sealing. You could add an additional stage to the srm1/mk2 bias supply and make it adjustable or load it somehow to get 620v, but there is no good place to put it. You could possibly mount it to the sidewall, but it would be difficult to do in a manner which doesnt interfere with the mounting of the top panel.
  14. Doesnt she have an iphone? Also, congrats on the amp Vicki. Time to put those JH13 to bed.
  15. Might the interwinding capacitance be a bit high, I guess depending how it is wound? Primary inductance should be pretty good. Also, primary impedance looks a bit high, doesnt it? Bandwidth looks great.
  16. I wouldnt. Either go balanced or keep it stock.
  17. Did you use something to sum the input and output, to see differences in the two? I dunno, but at least what I listen to looks really, really squiggly on my scope, and I just cant see how that is useful.
  18. Until I can build a KGSS and some stuff.
  19. Why would you use a normal bias amplifier with the SR007? That said, the SRM-1/mk2 is pretty good I feel, at least as a stopgap. It is what I am using right now.
  20. I was mowing the lawn earlier today, and the mower popped two fuses in the time it takes to cover an acre. Fortunately, some Monkey in chat just recommended the services of Nugget Audio, who reportedly likes to fix stuff for free...
  21. Holy cow Al, sorry to hear about that. Fortunately it sounds like she got away with little injury. Good thing she was paying attention, unlike so many people you see walking around.
  22. I will be in Charleston for about a week in a week, any cool places/restaurants I cant miss?
  23. You dont, that is what this simple mod is for.
  24. It is universal, no switches or anything. A pair of back-to-back zeners clip the input voltage to 100v, so unless your wall is below that you will be fine.
  25. Believe me, I hear pretty often how much he loves those.
