Ooooh, shiny: McIntosh | Special Edition Only 60 will be made for the USA...hrmm, anyone here think they'd get one? Price: $15K for the pre-amp and monoblock system

4N6, how would you describe the overall frequency balance of the PS1K vs the GS1K - darker? About the same? Brighter? More mid-range? (As the female vocal range doesn't cover the entire mid-range.) I'm sure you got at least a vague sense of how the PS1K sonically tilts in relation to the GS1K, right?

Silver Circle Audio Juice Box One (power filter), HeadAmp Pico USB DAC, and a '97 Honda Accord LX w/ <100K mileage - my even older '91 car was literally falling apart (I did get 220K miles out of it though in the 10 years I've had it and it was still crunking by in its last days!) I am now completely and utterly out of all my spare money, except for the amount set apart for my Senn HD800 pre-order. I really need to sell something if I want to buy anything now...

HeadRoom has an HD800 ad in the April '09 issue of Stereophile (which I got back in March of course but haven't started reading until recently). Here's the print from it:

That would be this meet thread: ChiUniFi 08 Meet Impressions - Chicago has another great meet! - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio

Nope, it'll be my only electrostatic amp. I sold my former SRM-1 MKII because I lost interest in a future comparison, didn't see much of a point to do one. I doubt anyone would've cared about my opinion anyway since the SRM-1 MKII vastly underpowers the OII, and I have no interest in acquiring an SRM-717.
-
I have the OII MKI and SR-X MKIII now. Depending on other variables, I may or may not acquire more electrostatic headphones, but as of right now that's completely unknown. My BHSE has Pro and Normal jacks to accomodate everything short of Senns.
-
It has not, but you'll know when you see posts over at HF from the excited people ahead of me loudly announcing their shipping notifications.
-
Let me know the time & place and I can bring my BHSE too.

HeadphoneAddict, I believe: Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio - View Single Post - Which is the best amp for the Omega II? Edit: is "A-10" not a valid search term at HF? & fail

Omg, lolz: Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio - View Single Post - A-10 Thunderbolt ll, Fully Balanced Electrostatic Amp/Pre-Amp
-
Certainly has an interesting look, though I do vastly prefer the simpler sleeker look of the BHSE. And I admit I like how the amp is designed to stack with the PSU, though it doesn't seem like there's enough heat ventilation for the amp. I look forward to finding out how much it'll cost... I don't really understand why it has 5 inputs either (3 single-ended & 2 balanced), seems totally unnecessary.

I can't tell if you were including me in your response, but I want to add that I'm not personally a fan of taking advantage of a return policy either - but if one exists and I can use it, then I might as well, at least if I have a reason to. To date I've bought a total of 3 items from HeadRoom and 5 items from TTVJ, and out of those I returned 1 (to TTVJ). I really hope to like the HD800 and the initial reports have been promising, but if I don't like it and can return it, then I may very well return it. I could theoretically wait for a meet instead but meet noise always detracts from the listening experience and it wouldn't be on my own gear either. I also wouldn't say I'm dubious about my purchase decision, moreso the actual sound quality of the HD800 and if it will meet my expectations and hopes.
-
I still have my pre-order in and won't be dropping out. The HD800 has made me all kinds of curious so I have to try it and it'd be nice if I could abdicate my Qualia 010 in favor of it. I also really don't care when it comes out - it'll happen whenever it's ready and I can wait, not in a particular rush. I don't get why so many people at HF are impatient about it. I would much rather want Sennheiser to take their time to get a product right instead of pushing something less than stellar out the door. I wouldn't say I'm confident about the HD800's sound quality either. I'm not expecting it to sound much better than some of the other high-end headphones (like my Qualia for example), but if it doesn't sound at least on level then I would be really disappointed. There's already been quite some raving about the HD800 at the other site but I'm still dubious. I've heard the highest end of headphones for myself in different setups and the only one that I've liked was the Qualia (and the PS-1, and the HP1000 to an extent) - I don't like the HE90, R10, K1000, or L3000, and I never will either, and I highly doubt the HD800 will do much of anything that I haven't heard before.

I'm compelled to buy a plane ticket to Hawaii to personally audition that - never been there before, and it'd be awesome to listen to your equipment.
-
Hrmm I actually kinda want one, and by that I mean the entire Ultra stack including the DPS. Would be nice to spend some serious alone time with HeadRoom gear instead of in meet conditions. /shakes fist at wallet

A matched quad of Genalex Gold Lion KT77 power tubes for my upcoming BHSE (my wallet finally caved into the pressure of an alternate set of tubes) and before that, Cakewalk Sonar 8 Producer w/ free Beat Fetish Vol. 1 - plus free offer for 1 E-MU Proteus Pack until 3/31 All I need now is a new computer to run it on because I predict my Pentium-M laptop will struggle with this beast of a DAW. I'll need to sell something else to get a new PC...

Today, from Vail ski resort, probably the last time I'll be heading up for the winter season. I thought the 2nd pic below worked better in grayscale.

I was recently told straight from the source that Woo Audio will have an updated GES at CanJam '09 (to better drive the OII).
