JP, I should be in Denver by 8 PM-ish if you want to wait. Will probably have Justin too, and maybe even Peter? I mapped out Falling Rock btw (didn't know where it was) and it's a fair bit away over in downtown. Parking would definitely be a beeyotch there. Btw, the Park Meadows area south of the DTC (hotel area) has some good restaurants too and you can hop on the light rail for that, no need for a taxi.

What time is your flight on Monday? I could theoretically take Monday off from work (have a variety of reasons to do it) and take you to the airport, if I could crash in your hotel room Sunday night. If you want a car ride to the airport just say the word and I'll provide it. Won't really mind missing the show for a bit, plus it's not that far away anyway. If there's anyone else catching a flight around the same time.... The craziness of this event just shot up by 1000%! Will be good to see you again Tyll.
  3. I wouldn't personally get a DAC without async USB at this point, regardless of the USB data rate supported.

Mike, if that's your take-off time I would recommend being at the airport no later than 3 PM - since boarding would be at 4:30 and delays aren't uncommon, plus the security line that time of day would be pretty long. Not counting added time for checked baggage (add at least 30 mins) as I assume you'd have only carry-ons. If needed, I (or one of the other CO locals) can just take you to the airport. I'm sure there's a SuperShuttle for going to the airport since lots of other people will probably be using it, probably just have to call ahead. Info's in that link I posted. Yeah could definitely pick you up then, and that should be my cell #.

There's the cheapest way, the RTD light rail at under $10 but it'd involve at least two transfers and would take more than an hour of transit time. It'd be faster (and more convenient for travelers w/ luggage) to take the SuperShuttle, there's a discounted rate to $19 one-way on the RMAF Web site: Rocky Mountain Audiofest 2010 Or I could easily swing by to pick you up provided your landing time is after 6:30 PM, just call (or text me) on my cell to let me know your flight info. The airport will be on my way down into Denver anyway.

Stereophile pre-show hype including a mention of "CanJam": Stereophile: Rocky Mountain Audio Fest: Bigger than Ever I can confirm that the venue Marriott and the adjacent Hilton Garden Inn are indeed sold out and have been for weeks. Good thing there's a 3rd hotel in the proximity (the Hyatt Regency), otherwise there wouldn't really be any other nearby hotels (within walking distance anyway) to help with spillover.
  7. That looks seriously awesome. Me want! If it's under $2K I'll probably buy one.
  8. Justin, always announcing new stuff when he's got enough products to make as it is. So will this drive K1000? Or is it more for orthos, electrets (K340), and other random hard-to-drive beasts (K240DF, T1, et al)?
  9. I have been pwned.
  10. Whew, saved by postcount.
  11. Correction, AD2K is 40 Ohms. (jk, don't ban me plz) I just realized I passed up an opportunity to hear AD2K on Crack, damn! What was I thinking? Wait, I might get another opportunity next weekend at RMAF....

Yeah lots of opportunities for that. If you haven't been through UT or CO before I'd recommend stopping at Canyonlands or Arches National Park (Utah) and then either Aspen, Vail, or Breckenridge in CO. There's really nothing else of note between Moab (UT) and Denver along I-70 (unless you want to take a side trip either north or south of the highway). The fall colors are already fading though, so you might miss them, or you might be able to still catch them, who knows. Clearly I was totally off the mark about the 18 hours, I must've been thinking about another roadtrip I did.

Would definitely be cool if you made it out Peter. IIRC, the drive from CA is about 18 hours (well at least it took that long from SJ going down to SD for the southern route through AZ and NM). I'm guessing you'd go through Las Vegas and then Utah for a shorter trip. Add Justin, Jude, Tyll (I'm guessing - he was here last year but I can't remember if he was still with HeadRoom at that point), and the usual staple of HF vendors (Jack Wu & family, Fang, Jerry Harvey, Ray, etc) plus the local CO contingent.

Really wanted to make it out for this but it's looking a lot less likely now, ah well. The spare funds (and time off from work) I was going to use for this will almost definitely have to go elsewhere (not the NYC meet, a completely different trip). Will try to catch you guys at ChiLiquiFi 2 instead.

Hard to believe the event's next weekend, time really flew by (been preoccupied with other things recently to really notice). Looking forward to hanging out with everyone that'll be there. Between the headphones, speakers, beer, & food, should be a smashing time. I'm looking forward to getting drunk for the last time.
  16. I didn't think to take a pic of the mom, just the cute kid. In retrospect I should have taken a pic of both of them. Already knew about the spots, been meaning to do a wet cleaning of that lens for a while but have never gotten around to it.
  17. Yup sure did, I cased most of the major points in the city. By the time I left it was starting to rain though.
  18. Some pics from my trip to Seattle for the Head-Fi meet held there on Saturday. It was my first time in Seattle and I definitely want to go back. This kid's mom was HOT, I actually talked to her for a bit
  19. If you really want to be "kool" you should throw the Audio-GD out the nearest window.

I actually wanted to go to that Portland meet they had in the summer but decided against it because kwdouche was on the attendee list (er and Ken of ALO too, who stands for everything I'm opposed to).
  21. Headamp Blue Hawaii Special Edition - Page 16 - Head-Fi.org Community Is there anything the BHSE can't do? Wait, it can't drive dynamic headphones.
  22. That silver is amazing. Makes me wonder if I could maybe get a color exchange. (Only the front panel that is, I could do without the silver tube base rings and cone feet.)
  23. Finally got mine over the weekend. Man it seems like it took forever to wait for this thing. In person it looks more Arcam-ish than Apple-ish though. The pic on the Arcam site makes it look too shiny. Posted more pics here: Arcam rDac - it's out! - Head-Fi.org Community

Is there a good way to get to Monee from O'Hare using public transportation, or is a car better? And where are the more "dangerous" areas around Chicago that should be avoided either by car or on foot?

Saw over at HF that Justin is coming, whooooo! Hey Marc and swt, you guys coming too? The more the merrier! I'm sad Greg isn't coming though. Haven't booked a hotel yet but I'll probably be staying at the Hyatt Regency now (a hop and a skip away from the venue Marriott). (Hotel offer still stands btw, see page 1.) Hey JP, will you and most of the vendors be flying in on Thursday? If so, will definitely make it down to Denver on Thursday night to join you guys. As for beer I can bring whatever anyone might want that's on boulderbeer.com and/or oskarblues.com, just let me know. Gotta represent the Boulder-brewed beer. I've never been to that place but have heard it's pretty good, would like to try it myself. Awesome, looking forward to 'em Tyler.
