Don't be so sure, it could be me under that coconut. Think about it, it's my amp. Florida = palm trees. The last time I was in NH, I don't recall any palm trees up there.

Nate, make sure you put instructions in the box on what tubes go where. I'm glad it sounds good with the Grados as I hope to have an RS-1 or ms-pro to use with it.

Once you add shipping and pp to the deal, it was over $700 but still a good deal.
-
Looks good to me. Of course, I have no idea what I am looking out, so they all look good to me.
-
Nate, post away. I'm pretty excited about the amp. Sometimes it pays to be sitting around the office all day so you can catch the good deals.

Excellent observation. Red mulch absorbes vibration but you need the rock surface in between to keep the device level. I learned the tweak at Home Depot.

I think these pics are better than the ones above: The retail is $795.

Oz, at Let There Be Sound Just got in a few of these new USB DACs from Cayin. It has a USB in on the front of the unit as well as a mini headphone jack. It also has controls on the front of the unit, including volume control. It also comes with a remote. There are two DAC chips. Analog out 1 uses a TDA1543 and Analog out 2 uses a PCM2706 which is also volume controlled. The iDAC can be used as a preamp through the second analog out. I finally got into my music room to try it out. I am using it as a pre at the moment through a Berendsen STA 150 power amp and my System-Audio Ranger speakers. The only headphones I have at the moment are ER-6is. I haven't tried them yet. As you can see from the pics, it is similar in shape to the HA-1A headphone amp and preamp which I've owned. The iDAC has rounded edges and is much more attractive than the HA-1A, imo. It also has a coax and optical out on the back. So far it sound nice. At some point I will compare to my Wavelength Cosecant. I thought I would share this new option for those of us using computers as a source.

I don't know what all the complaining is about, we have a real weather crisis, the temp dropped into the 50's. Now we have to decide what sweater to wear everyday. What a pita.

I've been pretty happy since moving to the Cosecant/mac mini setup. Like jp, I am listening to music that I probably wouldn't be if I was still using those silver discs. As a source, it's probably the best I've owned. I've had an Apollo, Berendsen CDP-1 (Gamut CD-1), Esoteric DV-50, Ayre C-7xe and have heard a number of other $1500 to $4000 cdps and I can't think of one I would take over the Cosecant. I really can't find any fault with it. There is nice extension at both ends, excellent soundstage and imaging and the mids really shine. It's gotten even better with the changes in my system. I hope to try out a Cayin iDac-1 this week and see how it compares. A customer auditioned the first one into my local shop and it never returned. Two more should arrive this week, with any luck.

The HR in you is coming out.

I realize that's shocking.

Why let a little thing like the Constitution get in the way, you know that document that doesn't mention the word "god" anywhere.

What is telling is how ridiculous all these resolutions are.
-
I made the mistake of thinking you were saying it made sense to you. However, if that were the reason then why do one for Islam? I guess that is certainly one possible reason for it, which is unfortuante, like so many other unfortunate things that takes place in our governement.
-
We try to vote them out but have you had a look at the pie chart? I have no problem with anyone decorating their houses at Christmas. Same applies to businesses. It's when the government is involved that I am bothered. What does the fact that 80% of America considers themselves Christian cause the resolution to make sense? How can it ever make sense for a government that should be staying out of the religion business to be passing resolutions supporting religions?

As I used to say to my son when he was 5, use your words.

First, I'm not "worked up" about this. I merely posted a comment to the OP. No one asked you to get "worked up" about it. I respect the fact that it means nothing to you. Perhaps you should respect that fact that it may mean something to others rather than say they are thin skinned.
-
It is offensive to me. Sorry, but is having a thick skin about every issue a badge of courage or something with you? There are some things worth being offended about. This may not be it for you but it might be for others.
-
No matter how many times they may do something like this, it doesn't make it any less stupid and offensive. The same would be true no matter what religion was substituted for Chritianity.
-
I guess the more time they spend on this they aren't trying to find ways to start a war with Iran or someone else.
-
That is nuts. It's either time for me to leave this country or those idiot representatives that passed the bill.

The Qualia is still one of my favorite headphones. Probably the only one I prefer over the K1000. The only problem I had was fit. I had a medium but need a small. When I had a pair I was using the Zana Deux and it seemded like the perfect match. There were a few others that heard the combo and liked it as well. I wonder how they would sound out of Jp's HD2, with the output transformers.
-
The only headphone I've owned as long as the K1000 was the HD-600 and HD-650. The only one that remains is the K1000. They continue to be my favorite headphone. They only get better with better amplification. Enjoy them with what you have now and save until you can move up to the next level. You won't be disappointed.

Just paid, now the wait.
