I would like to have more range but it's not a big deal. The real test will be if the lower volume is soft enough for a Sunday morning when it's real quiet and the kids are sleeping. I don't listen to speakers too often under those circumstances but there are occasions when I do.

Duet is ready to go out tomorrow. I included 2 mono 1/4 to RCA female cables you will need. You just connect your RCA to them and you are good to go. Al, my Pico will be there for sure. Maybe if you promise Justin a couple of those pine tree drinks, he will show up.

I'll send the Duet, if you want. I will happily use my Pico as my source. Plus I have a tt arriving Thursday and hopefully a phono stage a few days later.

Or maybe it's hard to believe that in order to have digital so good it's not necessary to spend thousands of dollars. I have to tell you the Pico is a damn good dac as well in a home system. It may simply be that for me, the sq I get from the $500 on the Duet is good enough for me and doesn't warrant the extra expenditure. This of course translates to more dollars for the analog rig. Are you going to join jp and I at RMAF to audition Teres and Galibier?

It's not bothersome at all. I don't think it has any effect on the sq. When you are 6 or 7' from the speakes, you really have to concentrate to hear it.

I ordered a Time Capsule. I've wanted to move to a 1tb drive since I am at 460gb on my 500gb drive. Apple describes the drives as server grade which I am guessing makes them better quality than the drives in my Seagate Freeagent. This will give me another place to back up our digital pics in addition to my music. All of this without wires.

My MPX3 arrived after making the trip from Alaska to New Hampshire to Florida. I immediately through it into my system as a preamp for the Berendsen STA-150. I am picking up a slight hum through the speakers that Nate had described to me. It certainly isn't noticeable when the music is playing and non existent through headphones. I'm using a couple of Sylvania 5687s and a Tung Sul 6SN7. I just grabbed the first pair of 5687 and the first 6SN7 I came across and threw them in. The gain is a little high but workable. It would be better if I didn't have the stepped attenuator but still not a big problem. I've only just begun to listen to the combination and so far I like what I hear. The one thing I noticed is that the imaging is really amazing. I'm listening to Patricia Barber Constntinople and the I am really getting a sense for the placement of the instruments. Also, the nice deep controlled bass also stands out at the moment. There is a nice sparkle on top with a real nice sense of decay. Just some preliminary impressions. I can definitely live with this sound, despite the ever so slight hum when the music is paused. It will take more getting used to not having a remote. I sit so close and my chair rolls that it's not an issue. I also use my phone as a remote for itunes and can control itunes volume if I need to get it quiet fast. Nate, another great job! Thank you. That's probably Time Machine using an external drive. Time Capsule won't ship until February. It's a seperate wireless base station with the drive built in.

He probably has Time Machine that comes with Leopard. Time Capsule is a wireless hard drive. Either 500gb or 1tb.

Exactly! This will act as my music server for my mac mini/Duet. It will also be my notebook/Pico bedroom rig.

I think it may be my daughters next computer, when she leaves for college. I would like to wait for it to be out a while before jumping in. I'm more excited about Time Capsule. A 1 TB wireless hard drive.

It sure would be nice to have some Enigma Audio wired K1000 to bring to Mayberry for a showdown with those fancy Equinox guys. I guess I could just take the Senn cable you sent me and have it hardwired to my K1000. It would be a shame to not have that nice EA Senn cable to show off in Mayberry.

Exactly, I want a K1000 with a 2 1/2' cable. I like to be close to the heat of the tubes when I listen.

I just found out that the company is located in Tampa, FL. I just invited them and LiveWires to CanJam. I may pay them a visit when I'm in Tampa next.

Yeah, I meant that if I decided I preferred the Duet or whatever, I could sell it without too much of a loss. I'm not interested in the cdp, only the dac. I still plan to use my comp as a source. However, it might be nice to be able to use cds on occasion.
