  1. The inputs and CCS's are good, checking the buffers and others now.
  2. Shweet. Got wood.
  3. I've never tried some of the Mill-Max products you gave a link to, tried some Mill-Mas inline(8 pin, 32 pin, etc. sip package) type ones and the holes in the pin sockets were never big enough to put the leads into, or at least anything I was using at the time. I finally settled on the Molex 64 pin ones, cutting the plastic away leaving just the pin to solder into the board. They do stand a bit proud of the pcb, but only the largest leads are too big to fit into the receptacle. They have a nice positive lock when the lead seats into the socket, making it hard to mistake if you have the lead in far enough. I think the Mouser part is 315-93-164-41-003000 Easy to use, just give one side of the plastic a nip with your cutter and the hatch right out. Thanks for the update Marc. Having poured over the pbc images for weeks myself I know it can demand a fair amount of attention and get tiring quickly. Look forward to some pics. EDIT:The link is for a Mill-Max part, I can't find the Molex and Tyco parts I used right now, maybe tomorrow.
  4. Pretty much the same here. I don't care to actually know how much time I've logged online. What others here and there refer to as community, I refer to as friends of the neighborhood. I guess it ties into your first quote in that we share common interests here, and lack that with friends offline. The cyber connection does get broken with the occasional meet though. Your both right, it is an interesting topic. Wayne is known for making us think... from time to time. Ditto on the kids and TV stuff. Who has time for TV lol.
  5. Halfway throught the first page I think I hurt myself laughing. I think I need to go lay down. had to try it:
  6. Will the 4.95 x 4.25 pcb dimensions be the final size or just the proto size?
  7. It's been a while since I've spec'd a SSD. Definitely the way to go for me if the read/write speeds hve improved in the last yr.
  8. I think I just spit on my screen.
  9. I suppose it would be proper for them to advise users that thier listening habits are being watched and forwarded to whomever, but I (and I imagine most others also) wouldn't mind, and gladly tick the check box to listen to what has become my favorite online listening site. I have compiled a long list of music additions using last.fm. I could definitely live without the recent video thing. Even though it has the button down on the right to turn off the animations, it would be nicer to be able to turn it off completely, or revert to the original player.
  10. Could also use the Gamma 1 I already have *What is up with the 15 minute limit on editing your post*
  11. Thanks for that. I suppose it's the same as a Hag, although I noticed Hag has one witha AES out now. $149 on thier website, I like the one you linked to better though. I am waiting for him to post some pics so I can see the rear of the unit.
  12. Yea I just noticed that, he only lives less than an hour from me, think I'll send him a PM and see how it goes. Need to do a bit more research here though, I think I remember a thread involving the 1100 and something else, maybe the DAC 3.
  13. Can't wait to see more of Smeggy's fine craftsmanship. Did he supply everything or did you have to send your cans to him for mods, or maybe his own personal cans?
  14. Beefy gave a post with a price list for all the components, came in close to $1k. I forget where he posted but I think it was HF. With the 32s/ESS9018 you have onboard IVY II, so you wont need a seperate module for that, just power supplies and whatever input module(s) you want.
  15. I'm banking on it. If its any more than the Dynamite it will not leave you dissapointed. Thanks for the update. Couldn't be better timing as I set up a new workbench in a new home.
  16. Another name used for the thumb lever is button head. I read the MSC catalog sometimes at work.
  17. 1 and 2 piece, no adjustable thumb lever but different materials. Bigger heavy, but black oxide coating. These could be used and replace one bolt with a thumb lever. They are "stackable". The stafford parts came from this page, neat stuff on the right column including anodized looking aluminum stuffs. Yet another Stafford link. Found Googling: 2 piece clamping collar. Googling: Thumb Lever and maybe adding "adjustable" gets mixed results. No quotes used on any searches. Your not an easy feller to shop for:confused:, but I really like your taste;D
  18. I must say thanks again for the "real world" assessment here, and the post on HF giving some pieces of music involved in your impression. It's so refreshing to read an impression without all the colorful adjective garb that no two people are ever gonna share interpretations of anyway, and to have a common piece of music with a common genre to compare. You really can't expect much more than what you see on other forums. The sound and enjoyment of listening gets buried with "price" and "worth". Just the links you posted alone are enough. And thanks for the personal feelings and anxiety about the purchase, I feel/have felt the exact same way. Obviously, it was for nought.
  19. Thanks alot there A. I really needed to hear that. Really I did. Nice rig.
  20. I lust. I can't thank you enough for posting those pics. Really.
  21. hum....thanks for that. Tried to post on DiyAudio but seems I'm still under "moderation". Maybe I can snag one after they hit the parts bin, if they last that long.
  22. Kevin claimed success with 4 on his proto FET. Ti used 7 on his Dynahi, but recommended 10 or 11 and increasing the feedback cap from 33p to 47p. I read on HW that Digipete had no satisfaction with his Dmite until set at 11. I have used 7,9,10 and now 11(yes, bal. gain of 22) and like it at 11. It picks up on nuances and details better for me. If I had a good source I'de probably need a diaper on to listen. Have you been playing around with a proto pcb?
  23. Yea I think the only reason they lasted as long as they did this time is because of the holiday weekend and the fact that many want to wait until the "tweakers" model, or whatever it's gonna be, is released. That and the placid power supply, for me anyway.
  24. Very cool. Thanks Donald.
