  3. I am trying to learn it myself. Kinda frustrating until you get the hang of it, then it's a breeze. I haven't found a lot of good help online, but then again I am a slow learner anyway, and not quite as quick to pick up on things as some of the younger crowd.
  4. You'll be fine just leaving evrything like you have it already soldered to the board, and hooking it up like you were gonna do anyways.
  5. Huh. Pretty sure I don't have those. How bout a 2SC2705? Pretty close on power and hFE
  6. Very nice. What kinda part is it you need cj?
  7. Welcome, Chris' brother. Indeed.
  8. I just got hold of a few Aerovox 24uF 400v (these say 50/60hz) from some shop light ballastes we just replaced with moar modern ones. They look to be 1.75" diam. by 4.125" long for the can, about 4.75" overall length including the connector tabs. *free if can be used* Mine look a little longer than this one, otherwise identical.
  9. Sigmas don't play nice with non slow blow fuses, even on the bench with nothing connected. I don't thing I have ever used more than a 1 amp slow blow, even for 2 sigmas. Very frustrating.
  10. omg you are so blessed Amos what a doll she is.
  11. Not badmouthing the Beta or Dyna, but I think they would bore you. Your comments in Doug's proto thread. Your starting the Hammond case thread(for which I kinda pooped in the middle of, sorry). Just seems like you want something different. I agree with the others. You would prolly get much more satisfaction from doing the whole thing yourself. Except maybe using one of those Hammond cases. Wish you could have been in Chicago for Canjam and listened to Ari's Grey Ghost, among many others.
  12. Nelson Pass has a lot of projects on his diy website. Noone writes like him, or has his sense of humor. You seem to be itching and leaning towards building a good quality single ended tube amp. I think you should go for it. Someone here can most certainly point you in the right direction for a solid circuit to put together. As for the mechanical aspects, you would be surprised how much can be done with a cordless drill and reciprocating saw(jig saw), and a few good files. I bore holes all the time over a trash can in my work room.
  13. emphasis mine
  14. Noticed something about a 20% off coupon at checkout on the Inday website.
  15. funny you mention the lsk. Got the idea some time back for a vertically mounted opamp servo for jfet amp from the lsk389 soic & pcb gb on diya. Not yours the other GB.
  16. If anyone that missed out on this would be interested in taking over mine then gimme a pm. I have yet to take delivery/pay for the chassis. Boards have nothing soldered yet. I have a handful of resistors and all of the hard-to-get silicon parts with teflon tube sockets and pins for KG's teflon stax sockets. Also have 3 different quads of EL34s.
  17. I would like to compensate you for your trouble if the parts are not found or whatever. I would be interested in the heatsinks, not the T2 chassis though.
  18. Those look great. Like the fact that they are one piece jobs.
  19. Yea I was gonna post this on the KGSSHV thread. Not much to pick from. This one is about $200uds shipped for the 75mm high X 336mm hs to hs x 300mm deep( it's about 3"H x 13.22"W hs to hs x 11.81"D ) --->Design Build Listen Ltd. THL Audio has one (I am sending email to request price), the PWAD-A40. Not exactly sure about internal dimensions. Just guessing it looks like about 3.9"H x 18.5"W x 9.8"D. ---> thlaudio web site pages(menu on the left "chassis case & heatsink" then about halfway down) (it has some holes already cut so not sure how that would work out) ...still looking.
  20. Let me guess. You're saying to yourself something like..."That's it. After this project no more for awhile. Besides, what could possibly be better?"
  21. If anyone is interested I would make a deal on some older EL-34s. A quad of xf3s and two matched pairs of xf2s.
  22. Something like this.... or this... From an RC hobby site. Can't find a place to buy them yet, just wondering if it would fit the bill first.
  23. Heh..lt wouldn't be a Gilmore design unless you had to adjust for the LED's to come on....
  24. Agreed on the LCD-2. Not really sure about that Denon or whatever DVD player used. Cary 303T>Blossom 0299>HE-5 was the most enjoyable I listened to there. Much more so than the LCD. Chances look slim to audition the LCDs apart from owning them.
