Edirol has a 24/192 and others already have DSD or recorders on the market. I wonder if it will have digital out since at least in this case it's for recording your own content so there should be no issue with the copy protection.

Aristaeus came and went on HF.. lasted 20 minutes

EMI and RFI are different? I, my electromag courses (admittedly a decade ago) and wikipedia dissagree, photons are photons. Anyway the are talking up at 315 times the 1MHz you mention and it's not even effective. If we all have serious issues with those frequencies we better live far away from any FM radio (about 100 MHz) or AM .5-1.5 MHz. I still can not see it being of any use. Does look cool though. -

I'll be honest and say I don't know... 60hz? Mutliples of 44.1 up to maybe 200 kHz? On the other hand 315 MHz? Let me know when you can hear the effect of having a garage door opener broadcasting nearby (it appears that's a common fequency for them). As far as I know other than some pretty exotic digital stuff everything in audio is below the 1 MHz range for the oscillators. -

United States Patent: 5814761 expires in a couple years. lol, their EMI tests show (emitests) effectiveness at greater than 315 MHz Very important fequency for the audio field. -
NKOTB - TTVJ/Millett 307A Headphone Amp
Dreadhead replied to n_maher's topic in Headphone Amplification
In general you will not want to take the XLR outputs and sum them for the RCA unless you attenuate the signal as well since the balanced output on most gear is operating at more than 2x the voltage of the single ended stuff. I have never heard the argument that trafo coupled should be better than properly designed balanced gear and I'd need a lot more convincing. Edit: Wikipedia to the rescue: [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balanced_audio]Balanced audio - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] "Fully balanced internal circuitry has been promoted as yielding 3dB better dynamic range." From that it appears that fully balanced amps do not need transformer coupling on the inputs to avoid ground loop issues. -

I would have to say no. The only reason I use my system fully balanced is for the headroom insurance it provides. To be honest with the SA5000s I think they sound the same SE as long as the amp has enough juice. -

Sounding good and actually taking full advantage of the balanced input are separate things. -
I've just sent my second pair in for repair. The first ones lasted 6 months the second ones a year. At least after the first one they "upgraded" me from a S500 to SE 530 (I know they are the same drivers). We shall see how long it will take them to return them. I'm trying to decide if I will sell them afterwards but I think I will. I'm tired of them doing this and they don't sound as good as my new Ety ER4S (to me) anyway.

Weight might be right but rolling inertia will be high. You're going to have to work hard to get that bad boy spinning. Will still be very cool though.

bungie based suspension is just as good though not as cool and I'd have to wonder if those fields aren't big enough to deflect the paths of your electrons in the tubes.

how in the hell did you machine that? It must have taken forever.

Too bad about the earpiece not fitting. I looked at customs but I'm going to stick with my new ER4P (with adapter so they are ER4S), they whoop the hello out of my SE530s I just sent in for cable repair. By the way a resistor in the circuit (however it's done) will adjust the response of the headphones because of the impedance vs frequency variations of the phones and the ratio with the constant resistors. For example the ER4 adapter (just 75ohm resistors) bumps the bass 3db, which appears to mean that the impedance of the drivers drops slightly down low (thought I didn't do the math).

255 steps right?! Madness. Have you tried them with the Pico?

Heard it on a SDS-XLR balanced sourced by Meridian G08 and out of my GS-X sourced by DAC3. You can still keep em.

Not looking to getting involved in the other issues in this thread but passive line stages (eg Placette (passive), DacT) are resistors and switches. There is no mojo to add or remove. They have external power to power the switches etc but the signal path is entirely passive resistors. How would they ever add color to the system? I guess they could if the system has cables so long and capacitive they need more driving to get the signal through, but then you have larger issues.

As I said before that thing looks amazing. How much do you think it ended up weighing including the platter?
