It is rare that I get something right like this so I'm happy to help. I also added an edit about the mobile icon now being different for new/unread content.

At the top of my page there's a "unread content" button that does mostly the same thing as the old button. It presents a list of threads with new activity and there's a star next to the title of the thread that will take you to the first unread post. It's more of a pain, especially on mobile, in that clicking the star reliably has not been easy. But it's all still there from what I can see. There's also still the "new content" button on mobile, but the image/icon is now something that looks like a stack of newspaper (or something like that) at least when viewed in portrait.

Safari is working fine for me (posting this message from it now) so I suspect you're having the same issue I was yesterday but mine was with Chrome. Try logging out, clearing everything from your browser history (I was able to leave passwords in Chrome but that was it) and I'd guess you'll be ok after that. I haven't used Chrome in ages on my Macbook so I'm guessing that's why I didn't have to clear the history in order to post.

In case anyone else is having issues replying to posts, clear all your browsing data, log off and then log back in and try again. That was the only thing that cured it for me. And tapatalk is seriously angry with me. It won't let me log in...

While normally I'd say yes there's no way in heck I actually could, sadly. Jeff would do better trading it on the 911 he should have bought then he would selling it to me.

Rest up and take it easy, Larry. Glad to hear that things went well.

^^^ This, with the one caveat that I'm not sure I'd recommend a project this complex (from a cost standpoint) for someone who truly doesn't know how to solder. Soldering isn't really difficult, but you definitely get better with some practice. To that end, just buy a piece of perfboard from RadioShack and practice on that for a few hours prior to starting the project and then you should be good to go.
