Nice Marshall. I switch to an electric trimmer after my gasser went tits up after just 4 years. I have a feeling it had similar issues to what you're trying to solve and I didn't have the patience or time to try to disassemble the whole mess.

Yeah, the guy bought it this spring (from Backcountry) when they were closing them out and used it three times before selling the SUV with the hitch. His truck doesn't have a hitch and he just puts his bike in the bed now (for shame). His loss, my gain. And technically I think you can still buy the NV2 for a bit more than the Sherpa (~$480) if you've got a 1.25" hitch but the 2" version is still nearly $600 thru Amazon. I paid $350 for this one and it has a few marks on it, but not many. Mostly cobwebs to deal with and still has both keys with it. I am going to have to trim one of the front tire scoops so that I can fold it up without using a hitch extension. It needs about an inch more clearance to lock in the up position. I'll order a spare scoop so if I ever want to "return it to stock" I can.

Got it for about half price off CL. Granted it's the first generation but more than sufficient for what I need.

It's just hard to spend half as much on the rack as I did on the bike. Still, gotta figure something out in less than a month to transport the calfee to the annual century. Then MTB session begins and I'll need it for that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

In an effort to suffer less during the upcoming century I went out and did 51 this morning. Pretty pleased with the average pace of a bit over 18mph given that I 1) didn't stop for anything more than a stop sign and 2) got rained on pretty hard for the last 20 miles or so. I'm also shopping for hitch-mounted platform rack for the Jeep and while there's a lot to like about the 1UP there's stuff I definitely don't like. One, no built in lock. Two, at least in pictures, I don't really care for its aesthetic. Three, fuck me they're $$.
