Happy Birthday! I guess I am both early and late in this wish, which may qualify as double fail. I'm kind of hoping, given your love of maths, that you'll permit averaging which paints me in a much better light.
I may be a total newb to this but I'm always leery of the "one size fits none" conundrum. If you want a smoker, get a dedicated smoker. What makes a smoker work well does not seem conducive to what makes a good grill. What I mean is that one is designed to very accurately hold low temps over long period while producing aromatic smoke and the other is generally going to be used at temperatures double to triple smoking temps for very short periods. I'm pretty excited by the prospect of the electric smoker and have read about and sampled great results.
Not true anymore, Dan, at least with some units. The Bosch unit that we just had installed in the addition is reasonably efficient down to -15F and provides both heat and AC.
While your source may be excellent your amplifier is ill-suited to lots of things given it's high output impedance. Maybe the Utopia's are one of them? The quality of the tube you have in there isn't going to help with that, either.
And one person posting an opinion that isn't the direct mirror of yours is hardly the equivalent of anti-vaxer behavior. I don't know what axe you're trying to grind here but it's a huge bummer.
