  1. Happy Birthday Todd!
  2. This!
  3. In case this is happening to anyone else - it has plagued my wife for the last day - the only fix to the "my iphone now reboots every 30 seconds" is to update to 11.2. I'm amazed that this bug made it into the production version of a previous update...
  4. ^^ This. A very happy birthday to you, Gene.
  5. Was consumed at Smartmouth Brewery so, had beer.
  6. Finally got home after a long day. Dinner was unplanned and spectacular courtesy of a local food truck that happened to be on the route back to the hotel. Carne Asada Tater Tots Shredded Pork Panini All thanks to this place, which aptly described my mood at the time.
  7. It's Tuesday, so.... + toppings
  8. I'm pretty sure that I put either a Crucial or Samsung in my laptop when I did something similar, Ken, and it's been great. Yup, just checked, Crucial M500. I'd say it gave me another couple of years of useful life but that was with a way over-spec'd gaming laptop that is still powerful enough to do just about anything but is suffering other hardware failures (fans at the very least). It's 8 years old and due for replacing, as soon as 9,000 other things get bought and paid for.
  9. Happy Birthday, Bryan!
  10. Lunched at the Handsome Biscuit today in Norfolk, VA. This is the Hella Fitzgerald which consists of fried chicken, topped with bacon and cheddar (I also added a fried egg) with accompanying sausage gravy all on a sweet-potato biscuit. \ I didn't really eat breakfast so I decided that a side of hash was in order. And because, Head-Case, I tripled down on dinner and went to the Grilled Cheese Bistro. If anyone needs me I'll be a in a food coma for approximately 48hrs plus or minus 2 days.
  11. The mac is a bit much for now and the Dell is sadly sold out. I'm traveling for work this week but will try to track this thread and thanks in advance, guys, for the help.
  12. Sorry to pigpile but it seemed too much to start a new thread - any decent Chromebook deals today? I need something for Lily to use for homework and they use CBs at school all day and I'm hoping they're a little less than the Macbook that I'd like to buy her.
  13. Baratza Virtuoso is what I have and use. Had a Bodum burr grinder before that which died an unfortunate death at the hand of a stone in my beans (it happens, evidently) and was specifically referred to this model as being able to deal with that without having terminal results. I think I've had it for a good 3yrs or more now and it's been great. Has both timed and button-hold options for grinding and the required variation of grind for drip/FP/espresso/etc.
  14. It's appreciated.
  15. Happy Birthday!
  16. Walden Pond is about an hour from my house.
  17. I live out in the (somewhat) middle of nowhere. Other than the country store, which has some essentials, it's 10-15 minutes to get to just about anything. It's like where I grew up, which is nice, and was affordable when we bought here 11 years ago. Now I'm not sure we could afford to live here, which is pretty insane. I hear you about the mowing, it can be a drag at times. I'm trying to get a bigger mower for next year to speed things up a bit. And thanks, the deck is definitely solid but I'd rather over-build than under-build.
  18. Got the last of the bracing installed on the deck.
  19. The basic answer from Apple, which you've probably seen, is that it depends on how much IR is filtered by the sunglasses. They say that typical glasses (sun or otherwise) don't filter much and therefore aren't an issue.
  20. Happy Birthday!
  21. Happy Birthday!
  22. If it weren't for the other failing parts on the phone (haptic engine, for one) I'd think more about the battery replacement option. It's just hard to invest money in it, not knowing what'd be next to fail, and needing to travel for work next week and not wanting to worry about it. So instead I threw money at my old 6 and had the screen fixed. I tested its battery and despite two plus years of service time in my hands as well as being used when I bought it, it's still got 88% of it's original battery life. So I'll rock that for the next few weeks. FYI - I was able to get in touch with Apple support (via Twitter) and while they wouldn't say how bad the battery was they could confirm that it failed diagnostic testing. It was pretty amazing that within 8hrs of tweeting at them I had a senior tech support guy on the phone performing remote diagnostics and offering to facilitate the battery replacement either at an Apple store or sending it in.
  23. Tonight's dinner - homemade pork empanadas using slow-cooked carnitas and cheese on the inside, with jalepeno aioli and pico on top. It was a hit, even with the kids.
