  1. At $337 each I think I'll have to pass.
  2. You can multi quote as soon as you hit reply. Next to each of the messages below the reply box there is an option to "insert quote". Also, I'd suggest that your preference of the W5000 is probably in large measure due to what you're driving them with and less a reflection on the two headphones.
  3. Overall I'm pretty impressed with it. I don't do all that much critical listening at my HT rig but the anticables certainly don't do anything objectionable. They replaced a pair of MIT Terminator 3's which were probably triple their price so I'd say as a "value" the anticables more than hold their own. My only complaint, and it's not much of one, is that they are pretty stiff regardless of what Paul says. Sure, they're able to be maneuvered easily enough but they take a bit more setting up than typical cables. In the same vein you can pretty much tailor them to look however you want since they hold a shape. One other thing, if I were to do it again I'd just have Paul make them up - it was a bit of a fussy process to measure, cut, coil, crimp, etc.
  4. I agree, with the gain that low 24 steps should be ok, it would somewhat depend on your source output level but odds are it'd be alright.
  5. Catch up Dusty, you're behind the times...
  6. My favorite trick, when not using the slinky is to shrink around the clamp at the back of the RCA to create a strain relief. This also works very nicely with Cardas 1/4" TRS plugs that otherwise have no strain relief. Of course you could always cover the slinky in shrink if you wanted.
  7. I've posted the two biggest atrocities here, although to be perfectly honest it's his sig that pisses me off more than anything. It just screams, "LOOK AT ME, I'M AN ASSHOLE!!!!1!" EDIT: Reks is my friggen hero!
  8. So far so f'ing sweet. I've spent quite a bit of time with it now with the HA-2 and I'm liking it a lot, it's still going through some burn in I'm sure so I'm trying not to nit pick at this point. It's certainly got some bottom end. So much so that I rolled a leaner tube (5998) into the HA-2 to compensate which has worked quite nicely. I'm really looking forward to setting it up in Boston where basically no one knows what it is. I'm counting on Salty and Ian to keep the secret.
  9. At least you don't ask for much Salty.
  10. My personal favorite is the Neutrik Pro-fi. If I had to use a Canare plug I'd choose the F-09, I prefer its form factor to the F-10, specifically the enclosed ground connection.
  11. If the software will let you do word substitution it would just about make my day if trose = asshat.
  12. Yeah, I thought that was your schtick.
  13. In my experience pornos tend to err on the side of nurses rather than doctors. The outfits are much more suitable.
  14. I think with some mild tweaking you might be able to achieve that result. I've been getting pretty interesting results with my 340s and the Wheatfield. I'm very much looking forward to hearing them balanced out of the Beta22 whenever I get around to building that.
  15. I'm sort of awaiting the Westone 3, to see if any sort of significant progress has been made in the universal fit IEM world. Based on what I've read neither the Shure 400 or 500 series or the Triple-Fi 10's sound like they're for me. I keep hoping someone will come out with a decent sub-$500 custom IEM. I'd have to give that some serious thought.
  16. WUHOO! I win, what's my prize, WHAT'S MY PRIZE!!!
  17. The more I think about it the more confident that I become in idea that the only thing I'll replace my Etys with is a pair of customs.
  18. I guess you really didn't want to sell me a pair?
  19. trose's entire Beyer collection? I think they merit mention since never has someone had the ability to make a headphone look exactly how they wanted and failed so miserably.
  20. Teh new hawtness!!1!
  21. Honestly, my first (and really only) criticism of the amp is its use of a stepped attenuator. Using low impedance cans I'd be pretty nervous only having 24 steps. And the Penny &Giles pot isn't' a cheap option at $500 (figure -$200 for the dact, +$300 for the P&G).
  22. For someone who loves black as much as you I'm shocked your avatar isn't just a plain black square.
  23. postjack FTW!
