At 750 EURO for the base model I think I'll pass. And postjack, you realize that most of the DIY power supplies that we use are far superior to batteries, right?

Those things are fricken huge (unless than meant inches ", instead of feet ') Sweet, I just noticed I passed the magic 1500!
-
Me too, I demo'd a pair when I bought my Paradigms and they sounded pretty darn good to my then-less-trained ears.

Soon to have a twin.

Amen to that, on the rare occasion that I agree to build something for someone the first condition is that I do it when I can do it. For me it's a matter of since I'm not getting paid I don't really want to feel any pressure. Of course what Mikhail really needs to do is clone himself so that he can spend the countless hours on the phone that he probably does hand-holding buyers through the custom design process and actually building the stuff that he designs. I've seen his email inbox, sweet jesus I do not envy him.

If I were him I'd be way more concerned about filling orders in a timely manner than creating new products to further fragment his lineup. Salty's been waiting, what, 10 months for his amp and Mikhail's managed to make, 50+ Extremes in that time?

Initial impression (straight out of the box) of the RP-22X are, uh, not so good. I've got them burning in now and will check back as time goes on but for anyone that thinks the Senn's have a veil these cans have a tablecloth draped over the highs.

Just watched the un-aired pilot. Without giving too much away for those that might want to watch I pretty much agree with all the changes that they made before airing the second pilot/first episode. The definitely refined their craft as they moved forward.

Nah, we'll all just charge him like we're MOT's if he ever asks for help!

I thought IRL was the Indy Racing League?

[me=nate]adds post jack to shit list[/me]

And I've got a pair of RP-22X's (EXTREME!) that I'll be putting through the paces over the next couple of weeks. I hope my rig is worth of their eXtremeness.

NO! Stephen is your man, he'll hook you up proper. I have parts for my mini3 on the way, but that's it. [me=nate]asks for grawk's mercy[/me]

Hmmm, now that's an interesting idea that I might just have to try...

Color me confused.

I disagree, it's not very often that I sell something for the price listed in the thread. Sometimes someone offers me more, sometimes I take less, either way the stated price is pretty much worthless.

New Portable USB DAC/Amp to preview at Maryland Meet
n_maher replied to justin's topic in Product Annoucements
I had a chance to hear the Pico prototype at the Boston Meet yesterday. I was listening via HD650s to a mix of Eric Clapton and some Floyd and I have to say if I wasn't staring at the little marvel I would have sworn I was listening to a full sized rig. This setup had power in spades and fed by Justin's Mac laptop sounded fantastic. Great detail everywhere and plenty of, well, everything. In full disclosure I'm not the world's most picky or particular listener and more than anything what I strive to find in a rig is something that when I turn it on it goes away and lets me enjoy whatever I'm listening to. Justin's amp had me tapping my toe the entire time I listened. I think the ultimate compliment that I can pay any piece of commercial gear as a DIY'er is to say that I'd buy it, and in this case that's certainly true. Seeing the craftsmanship, attention to every detail, and overall passion that Justin put into this thing it's pretty clear that anything I would attempt would pretty much pale in comparison. I expect this will be a big hit for him. -
Back to the edit window thing, there are times that I wish it was just a bit longer but really, I like the fact that you have to think before you post since there's limited opportunity to correct any f'ups.

Too much edition 9 love in Headfi....have u listened to them?
n_maher replied to purk's topic in Headphones
I spent some time with drp's edition 9's this weekend at the Boston Meet. They were sourced by a Resolution Audio Opus 21 and powered by a Rudistor RPX-100. I spent about 20 to 25 minutes of pretty focused listening with them mainly with female vocal material (Patty Griffin and TNP). I have to say, for a $1500 headphone I was left wanting. As others have noted they have prodigious, well defined bass but more than the midrange flaw that everyone else seems to find I found the highs to be way off. It was the first time in a long time that I noticed something glaringly wrong with a high-end set of cans. To my ears they were very sibilant to the point of it really being hard to enjoy what I was listening to without concentration on this flaw, and I'm not usually all that sensitive to that type of sound so this seemed doubly weird. And being able to compare these side by side to the HE60s didn't do the ED9's any favors either. I may be in big trouble after listening to the Baby O's... -
Me too, 9am EST. Time to finish packing for the Boston Meet. Random smiley =

It's a sad state of affairs that I still haven't built my Aikido. I really should put that on the list next. [edit]Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't he already offering the mono kits as seen here? Although I guess that's not a headamp specific kit, my bad, i suck, i'm stopping the edits now...

Which R10 should be recabled with a balanced cable?
n_maher replied to Elephas's topic in Headphones
I'd go with whichever one sounds better to you single-ended. You can always go back if you don't like the changes that balanced drive makes, right?
