IIRC the delay is variable based on what headphones you have plugged in (their impedance plays a role) so you may find that it's longer or shorter depending on what you're using. As long as it's eventually closing and staying closed it's probably working just fine.

I'd second this advice, I had an issue with the 1/8 to 1/4 adapter on my Etys and they replaced it out of warranty without question or payment for even shipping.
