Nah, he's selling an Ety cable now that looks really sweet and at some point the cost vs. hassle factor takes over and even I'm willing to pay someone else to do work.

I just reread some of my comments and it sounds like I'm being pretty harsh, that's not what I intended. I think Alex's work is first rate and if the techflex doesn't present a microphonics issue I can see how it'd be much easier to work with given its ability to expand to a far greater degree than multifilament. Alex, YGPM on a separate issue.

That's pretty much what I said. In the past I don't remember finding anything nearly as reasonable sounding (price-wise) and they always looked goofy as hell too. These actually look half-decent and the price is great. Now, to figure out if I want to go nuts and have APS recable the Etys first...

Looking forward to that, I saw a thread about custom impressions for ER4Ps again last night and I'm seriously weighing that as an option now too. They don't have much in the way of resale value ($100ish) and if the process is reversible it's not all that much of a risk for better comfort and isolation.

New Portable USB DAC/Amp to preview at Maryland Meet
n_maher replied to justin's topic in Product Annoucements
I like them both. Great job on the design Justin, I can't imagine that Resistor Ray is happy about being trumped for the "stuffing the most into the smallest package" title. -
I guess for me, even after the microphonics issue, it's still a matter of feel. Techflex feels like crap to me.

I hear you, I've given a lot of thought to changing from the ER4P to something else, but decided that if I'm going to bother to do it I'm going to move to customs. I'll never be able to afford the UE10/11/whatever and there's not much to choose from in the sub-500 custom range. I don't have enough faith in the livewires yet to take a flier on them.

Alex, How are the microphonics with the techflex sleeving? That's my one big gripe with the Zu Mobius. Nylon multifilament sleeving seems much better in all aspects compared to standard techflex.

There's a better deal on ER4S's here right now that I'd be all over if I needed some budget IEMs.

Took a vacation to Chicago, so I missed it entirely. This new theme business threw me off.

The M3 probably does a great job with the 650, which isn't hurting your impression of them either.

I don't think so, I'm supposed to get a little alone time with the prototype whenever it's ready this fall. I know that Pete's been a busy guy (with some seriously cool projects) so I don't know how much time he's invested into the new HA-2 or how hard Tyll is pushing him to get it done.

Thanks for you impressions, I'd just have to add that I've never been a fan of the HF-1s with flats, they sound fat and bloated to me that way. I much prefer them with bowls. While I've never heard the MS2i I have heard the 325 and 325i and preferred both of those cans with flats or reverse bowls. Did you try the HF-1s with anything other than the flats?

That's not an entirely fair or accurate statement. Most of the best teachers that I know freely admit that sometimes they just make tests too hard and that the numeric score generated does not reflect the overall capability of the class. In some cases getting 70% of the answers correct might very well show a complete understanding of the material presented. On topic: water

No spoilers please, I've this whole show (3 seasons) cued up and ready to go soon. Now that I've got it so that I can watch downloaded content in high-def in the living room I imagine I'll get to this and a few other shows that I didn't want to watch on the computer.
-
I'd say it was average at best, but if it didn't do it for you I wouldn't encourage watching the show. I certainly didn't think it was as bad as you clearly did, but hey, such is life.

Can't say I blame you, I've been on a source rather than headphone binge lately.

I wouldn't say that Serenity was all that good a representation of what Firefly was like. Similar, yes, the same, absolutely not. Some of the stuff that happened in Serenity probably made no sense to those that hadn't watched Firefly and I can see how you just wouldn't get all that involved in the characters w/ such a short introduction to them.

Great Shows Firefly, check. Dead Like Me, check. Heroes, uh, not sure whether or not this is a great show yet. They ended the first season terribly, I watched part of last night's episode before succumbing to exhaustion but it was going ok. I'm giving them about 4 or 5 episodes to show me that they have something resembling a direction otherwise they'll probably lose me. Deadwood is fantastic and just so unlike anything else I've ever watched. It had a way of making me profoundly uncomfortable (was life ever that violent?) and got me to laugh out loud all in the same hour. Watch the first 5 episodes, if it doesn't click with you by then it probably won't.

I guess your resolve didn't last all that long.

Uh, well, considering the price (which shall go unnamed) it was impossible to pass up. The whole situation started out that I was going to try and repair it for Ken but he decided that he just wanted to move on from it and get something that he knew he could depend on. People were giving him a ration of shit about the way in which he was selling it (I don't know all the details of this) so I helped in the only way I could and bought it. I'm also having thoughts of building a single box comp-as-source solution and housing the Hertsens w/ the SB3 in which case having a balanced Redbook source would be very handy.
