It's a compromise to be sure, but driving to and from work is one of the few times during the day when I'm alone and can consume something like an audiobook. No option to read during that period and very little time to actually read.

Happy birthday my tall friend. Here's to hoping the day is filled with the correct doses on wine and fun.

^^ That's essentially my issues with any "overly smart" smart watch. I swear there has to be a sweet spot in this ecosystem for an Apple product that does most of what the current watch does but has 5x the battery life and is wi-fi only. I'd buy that in a heartbeat, if they put it in a round case. Picky, I am.

Happy Birthday!!!

Thanks. I also don't think the cheaper Watch will kill FitBit or Garmin. Hurt sales, most likely. That said, I vastly prefer both Garmin and Fitbit smart watches to the Apple Watch despite them being less capable. I mean as a gadget lover I completely get the appeal but at the same time there's exactly one device I'm willing to accept that I have to plug in every night, my phone. And that's mostly because I don't need or want it at night (again, yeah, I'm a prematurely old fart, whatever). I use my watch as my alarm every day and I want a silent alarm since when I wake up is not necessarily when my wife wakes up. Speaker if SWMBO, she has said Watch 3 and the charging drives her a bit nuts. Despite topping it up while she's in the shower getting ready it has left her stranded without a watch more than just a few times. My current Garmin smart watch is near perfect (for me). It notifies me when stuff is happening on my phone, allows me to clear notifications, ignore phone calls, track activity, track sleep, and I haven't charged it since last Thursday. The battery is sitting at 65%.

I know I'm in the minority but my 7 plus still feels fine. I like that the display doesn't have a notch and that I don't have to look at it to unlock it or pick it up to see what time it is or if I have any notifications. Its camera still takes great pictures and it costs me $0 to keep using.

Thanks everyone, I actually posted the wrong image - I was comparing last year to this year - but nonetheless, yes, very happy with how things went. The time quoted in the image includes all stops, including time to help a friend change a flat. Moving average was 18.6mph. Correct Ride Data

Not today, but yesterday. Completed the Kelly Brush Century for the second year running. Trained hard, cut about 30min off my previous time and had a ton of fun with the same group of guys that I've been doing these rides with for the last 7 years.

Best not to mess with nature's fireworks.

^^ You say just like it's not seriously good coffee. I've loved the few batches I've been able to buy.

I did my last little bit of cross training for the 100 mile ride I'll be doing next weekend. Here's to hoping the nearly 1,200 miles I've logged this year so far were enough.

This. Forecast looks pretty ugly.

Start with some commonly available instructions, like the excellent stuff at AMB's website. Like this - https://www.amb.org/audio/beta22/, among others.

So build a giant enclosure and put one of those ovens that Mike suggested inside. Desired aesthetic plus 60sec pizza FTW.

Happy Birthday!

It takes ~10-12 seconds to start flowing. I haven't timed the flow, but will at some point soon. It's also doing pre-infusion during that time. It has settings for both singles and doubles. Both come up short on the first run. The single is what I stated before, add an ounce for when I run it on the double setting. And I'm using a relatively dark roast (Old Bisbee Bali Blue) as it's what I had on hand. I don't tend to have multiple beans at any given time because I'm the only one drinking it and I don't want it sitting for months. Not sure what I'll do for the next batch of beans.

1. It takes about 10-12 seconds for the coffee to start flowing, right in alignment with what Breville states it should. 2. Best guess (need to measure) is that the first shot is 1/2 - 3/4oz. I'll run one this afternoon and see. 3. Puck is very firm, doesn't seem overly moist. I don't have a knock box so I pry it out. It may be a bit on the moist side but it's hard to figure what would cause that. If I go much finer on the grind it seems like I'm likely to get even less volume (more surface area per weight of coffee) and if I go more coarse I'll likely get thinner, less flavorful shots which is not desired.
-
Basically loving it so far, with the one exception that the shots seem pretty small. Don't know if it's just the coffee I have absorbing a lot of the initial water or what, but basically the best process so far seems to be to run a single through it, then a double, to get the volume/flavor right. I'm sure I'm not doing something exactly right but based on the research I've done I pretty much have the grind and tamp done right so that only leaves the machine. I did purchase the 3yr warrant thru Amazon so I'm not really worried. If it bugs me long term I'll get it replaced. Or I guess I could start monkeying with the settings and see what happens. Regardless, it was a good week of coffee.

i just started it a few days ago. It's the first show in a long time to capture my interest enough to actually want to watch more. Only through the first three episodes but looking forward to the rest of it even though I have no idea where they are going with it.

This could be trouble. First results were very promising, if not entirely drinkable. I'll toy with grind just a big more to get a full extraction but tomorrow morning should be fun and interestingly enough, I liked the flavor of the straight latte enough that I don't think I'd add sugar. That's a big change from how I drink straight coffee.

My health insurance provided essentially pays me to wear the tracker. If I exercise enough the reimbursement more than pays for the tracker so it's hard not to wear it. Still, I need to be better about taking it off from time to time.
-
Went to a wedding last night and decided that I'd already tracked enough steps/activity that I could wear an actual watch. And yes, I know the date is wrong. I was in a rush to get ready and didn't feel up to fiddling.

Happy Birthday to the founder!
