True enough, you could certainly do it but you'd have an awfully hard time supplying the kind of current the beta22 wants with a tube/choke PS.

Actually, based on recent activities (namely this friggen PS) the project requires re-naming. What was once rather simple has now become a good deal more complex. This development actually means that the beta is getting moth-balled for at least a couple months. :'(

Mayberry on Acid -- Meet Impressions
Dew Eeet. I think that you should beat Mike to the dual beta24 K1k amp with a balanced beta22 as the preamp. Should only cost about $6k in parts and smoke the doors off of everything.

Mayberry on Acid -- Meet Impressions
That is very bizzare, since if your SP is wired like others I've seen it should have a switched headphone jack which means that when you plug in your headphones you essentially disable the preamp outputs. How that could stop working and then start working again is beyond me. It might pay to crack the cover on that sucker one of these days and have a peak under the hood.

Completely off topic but something that I actually thought of the other night - what's up with your Extreme these days?- Mayberry on Acid -- Meet Impressions
Yeah, I know all to well about Mike and Capt.#'s gear-whore syndrome. I'm ok with it and can't complain since I've been the beneficiary. And I'm just happy that I got the prototype of the cable done, one less thing that ALO can claim to have "invented'. Our man grawk can report how it works out later this week and then we'll go into production in the next week or so. OMFG, MOTMOTMOTMOTMOTMOTMOT- Post the last thing you bought!

You're already convinced, what exactly are we supposed to do? For me it would come down to whether or not you're tied to using the Ipod as your transport. If you're not, the Imod/dock treatment sounds like a shite load of money for a solution that limits what you can do with it. You can couple the pico to anything that can output usb audio, you can't do anything else with the Imod other than use it with the dock and you can't use the dock with anything other than the Imod.- pico vs predator, real measurements
I think it was more related to jet engines than music.- pico vs predator, real measurements
Ray is old, therefore his designs must be superior.- Inexpensive, but decent, CD transport with AES/EBU
Or permanent if you don't feel like tearing something apart.- NFL biggest upset in the making
Regardless of who you were rooting for I don't think that was a good game. Two mostly inept offenses, one very inept offensive line, one lucky quarterback. The Giants definitely deserved to win, but it wasn't by virtue of playing particularly well in all phases of the game or anything like that. This really was one of those games that hinged on a single play. What a friggen waste of 4 hrs.- Balancing a vinyl rig
Steve, seems to me that you could try a couple simple experiements. First have a look and see if the ground pin on your XLR cables (should be pin 1) is connected on both ends. If it is you could try disconnecting it at the speaker end and see if that helps. Or you could try using a cheater plug on the power cords for the monitors and see if that makes a difference.- Inexpensive, but decent, CD transport with AES/EBU
I think having a balanced digital output and cheap probably don't coexist all that often. Why do you need AES/EBU? I know there's the supposed benefit of having a 120ohm impedance (or something like that) but I'm not sure my ears care.- Mayberry on Acid -- Meet Impressions
That's about what I was figuring, aerius.- Mayberry on Acid -- Meet Impressions
I can't imagine what the price would be for something like that, probably high.- Best Black Headphones?
That is a question with many answers...- Mayberry on Acid -- Meet Impressions
I think what you're seeing is all one amp, 2 separate power supplies tied to the central amplification section.- Happy Birthday ojnihs!

Nice one Steve, although I do prefer the look of the black 600 grills to the painted 580 grills. Actually, the 586s (what I call them) are a pretty sexy headphone, much more so than the marbled blech that is the 600s. - Mayberry on Acid -- Meet Impressions
