After waiting for 2 weeks for a part to come into stock at Markertek I'd had enough and placed two orders today with separate parts vendors so that I can get busy with a couple long-overdue cable projects and so I can avoid further public ridicule.

IMHO the K1k is the industry standard since it was the first to use the configuration. That's awful that someone else chose to change that now, it'd be like having multiple 3-pin configs to contend with. :|

Yes, a fair number of RCA cables are simply twisted wires with no shielding. But one can, if so inclined, build shielded RCAs with the shield grounded on the source end to help with noise issues. Ask Reks about whether or not it works.

Or you could ask someone to build you a long set of shielded RCAs to try and minimize the potential for noise. Just sayin'...

Hey, go for it, it just strikes me as enough of a waste that it's not worth thinking very hard about. The sigma22 is probably the most sophisticated SS PS out there right now and probably outperforms just about anything you could do with tubes.

True enough, you could certainly do it but you'd have an awfully hard time supplying the kind of current the beta22 wants with a tube/choke PS.

Actually, based on recent activities (namely this friggen PS) the project requires re-naming. What was once rather simple has now become a good deal more complex. This development actually means that the beta is getting moth-balled for at least a couple months. :'(

Dew Eeet. I think that you should beat Mike to the dual beta24 K1k amp with a balanced beta22 as the preamp. Should only cost about $6k in parts and smoke the doors off of everything.

That is very bizzare, since if your SP is wired like others I've seen it should have a switched headphone jack which means that when you plug in your headphones you essentially disable the preamp outputs. How that could stop working and then start working again is beyond me. It might pay to crack the cover on that sucker one of these days and have a peak under the hood.

Yeah, I know all to well about Mike and Capt.#'s gear-whore syndrome. I'm ok with it and can't complain since I've been the beneficiary. And I'm just happy that I got the prototype of the cable done, one less thing that ALO can claim to have "invented'.
