As far as I know you're correct, Jay. Just look at either a 2-channel or 3-channel beta22 wired as a speaker amp. The L and R speaker taps share a common ground for the '-' portion of the speaker output. And since I've used that exact amp wired exactly as amb shows it I think it's safe to say that it works and doesn't cause any issues. If it could blow up I'd be the one to blow it up. :)And if IIRC my gainclone works the exact same way and works just fine too.

PLASTIC FANTASTIC!! Eh, I dunno. I guess they're black enough but I've been left pretty wanting by a lot of AKG's more recent offerings (601/701). That doesn't exactly give me great hope for a lower end open can, limited edition or not. About the best thing that I can sy is that they're probably pretty darn comfortable, AKG seems to get that part right more often than not.

Thanks Dan, and yes I know that your cable should have inputs as well. But I'm all out of RCA plugs and wanted to get a proof of concept put together for you to test. So that cable will be headed your way on Monday to test fit and function before I invest more $$ in the project.

Perhaps the world's first Apogee Duet Breakout Cable Note, there is no designation for L or R on that cable because apogee doesn't assign L or R on their freakin' pin-out diagram. There's your homework assignment, Dan.

Nah, I just think it's a deliberate attempt at dick.

One of these days when I get my poop together I'll be contacting you about another stand.

Pffft, our gov't is too busy investigating sports leagues to worry about lil ol me. NO STATS!

Did I mention that I wired a small explosive device into your beta22 last weekend? Keep pushing salty, just keep pushing..

You should expect to get ~$225 for the headphones with the stock cable, maybe as much as $25 to $50 more depending on the market demand which is always tough to gauge. High quality pics will help the sale. The Zu, hard to say what that's worth since you're going to have to find the right buyer for that one and actually may hurt your sale if you try and include it with the 650s. I'd feel good if I got $50 out of it if I were you.

I generally don't stop at half-way decent... And sleep less?!! Hell no, more sleep, MORE SLEEP.

Silly postjack, we can fix things like that.

Maybe in '09, maybe. It's the cost of the headphones that is killer right now coupled with the time it'd take to build an amp the way I'd want to do it.

For me it's a matter of space, time and money. I don't have the space for another rig (wife is already pissed enough w/ two large dynamic rigs), I don't have the time to build a stat amp any time soon (and whenever possible like to build my own gear) and just don't want to dedicate the money to stats right now. Hell, neither of my dynamic rigs is really even close to done so throwing another completely different beast into the mix is a bad, bad idea. Plus, I'm really pretty psyched about where my dynamic rig is headed and want to see that through to at least some measure of completion. I've been presented with several tempting offers lately and managed to shut them all down before I got going. It hasn't been easy, but I'm sticking to my plan so far.

Used DIY KGSS if you can find one is probably about as cheap as stat amps go. Although I freely admit that I stopped researching early in the process. No stats for me, NO STATS!!

Man, that sucks. Sorry to hear that the travel plans are so hosed up. And don't let that penguin dude hog the DAC this time.

Well the first episode was good. And yeah, Ian, I see your point but there were a lot of times in season 2 where it was pretty friggen clear that there was no one steering the ship. They got that mostly sorted in season 3 but I just don't like that they've left so much (everything) unexplained up to this point and I get the distinct feeling that they have no intention of explaining a good deal of it.

What is your current project, or what will be your next project?

The shield on Canare SQ is quite easy to cut when stripping the jacket. I've moved entirely to mogami (not for that reason) and find that its copper shield is much more resistant although still able to be cut if you're not careful. Although usually if I've cut the shield I've cut the jacket on a conductor and then have to figure out if I can live with a shorter cable. -
DUDE! SWEET!

That's not the one you've been searching for for like 6 years is it?!?!?!? :kitty: :kitty:

It had better be damn good, that's all I know. Even with my writer's-strike reduced expectations there's only so much BS I'm going to put up with this season.

There's a fair bit of conflicting information with regards to that, Jay. I used to think that the one-end only ground connection was correct (based on what I'd read) but I've recently had a few folks experience problems using cables built like that. Further research has determined that it is actually very much application dependent. Not trying to stir the pot, just provide more information.

I can only speak for myself as a non-MOT but building power supplies doesn't seem like anything anyone is interested in doing. I get requests reasonably often (considering I don't solicit anything) and usually the only way that someone gets one built is to post a WTB thread.
