New MacBook Pro and MacBook
Not saying a thing till it arrives and works flawlessly, I've been entirely too cursed lately to do otherwise.

New MacBook Pro and MacBook
And here I am hoping that the laptop that I ordered today will finally mean that I get to start using a laptop extensively again!

Couple of ideas...
Might I suggest shutting off the two panes on the sides of the screen? Right next to the Logout button at the top menu bar there are two +/- toggles that allow you to do this. I greatly prefer browsing with them shutoff to avoid the side-scroll nightmare.

Bummer, but it's also likely that you'd never notice the difference with the new processor.

Why not see if you can still return the Macbook you just bought?

Inexpensive, but decent, CD transport with AES/EBU
Heh, let's hope I don't need your advice about this one.

Eh, don't worry about it. Depending on what happens with the seller I'll more than likely just send it to Noble Electronics, a company founded by former EAD employees who still offer repair and upgrade services. Also, what f'ing kills me is that I elected to pay the guy with Paypal cash rather than use a CC figuring that he's a partner at a law firm, what are the odds he's going to mess around w/ something this trivial? So, hopefully that impression holds true and he'll come through. Oh, and on another lovely note I just discovered that the chassis is missing a foot. Seriously, what the fuck?

Thanks for the chuckle Steve, he's up in token's neck of the woods, like Perkinsfield, Ontario, eh?

Yeah, I finally tossed that thing a few months ago after yet another failed attempt to fix it. Maybe that's what this is all about, I churned up some of my old bad source karma?

Who knows, the issues are even worse than previously feared. I managed to get the drawer open, it has a SERIOUS tight spot, and even when I can get a CD in there it won't read it. There are no words.

I've opened it up, nothing obvious or stupid like a transport lock screw or anything like that. The tray comes out smoothly for about an inch, binds, stops and returns home. And Haj, the seller is conveniently on vacation but I sent an email anyway. I fully expect to get stuffed on this, that's just my luck with sources.

Well, looks like I might be buying the TEAC after all considering that the EAD just showed up and is pretty much non-fucking-functional. I mean I suppose that I could use it if I could find a way to slide the CD in without the drawer opening but that doesn't appeal to me all that much. So pissed, so fucking pissed.

No no no, you're not supposed to sell anything, just buy!

Anyone have vertigo before?
Hot damn Haj, don't you realize what you've just discovered??!?!? That sounds to me like a friggen medical reason to get a speaker rig! Vertigo FTW! (well, maybe only sort of win, still big lose too)

K701 insanity spreading over at head-fi
You said "slightly", I can accept that. My thoughts are it was probably a combination of some actual physical changes in the headphones and your mental adjustments to them.

Anyone have vertigo before?
That sucks Haj, but glad to hear that it's getting better and that the scans didn't show anything amiss.

Rotary switches.
Check the Electroswitch C4 Series that is carried by Mouser. You should be able to configure that to fit your needs. Ask if you need help.

I think when the wife sees yet another CD player arriving today she's likely to be less than impressed. If I had to admit that I had yet another one ordered she might kill me.

Not sure if this transport as AES or not but if someone was looking for a good, inexpensive transport I'd snatch this up. http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?dgtltran&1209096234 Heck, if my EAD wasn't arriving today I'd buy it. I might anyway...

Either DigiKey or Mouser carries some very nice Grayhill switches, I've got one at home and will look up the part number for you tonight.

Naaaaaaaaaaaah, I think between the new fudge guy and sarah (or whatever) the FTL quotient is handled. You are win.
