  1. Sweet! Me, I just bought some caps and Amphenol connectors from Digikey. I'm now 99% done ordering parts for The Menace.
  2. I figured you've got enough on your plate that you don't need yet another location to monitor about the Pico. Plus, it just strikes me as a stupid question since you'll update the list as soon as you can.
  3. A multitude of resistors, caps. clamps, terminal strips, tube sockets, 1/4 plugs, RCA jacks and I'm sure I'm forgetting more. Basically about 95% of what I need to work on the Menace project.
  4. You really think he's going to answer you here?

    UPS Sucks

UPS picked the package up from me on the 4th of March to inspect it as a part of the damage claims process. They denied the claim on the 5th and on the 6th they updated the original tracking number with the following information: CONTACT UPS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / RETURNED TO SHIPPER At that time I contacted the shipper and told him that it appeared that the transport was headed back to him and to let me know where he stood. I also suggested waiting until it got back to him before sorting out some final resolution. He agreed and we both remarked at how messed up it was that they would send it back to him. One week passes. He emailed me this morning asking if I knew anything new so I called UPS. It took them 10 minutes to figure out that I was only the receiver, then another little while to figure out that the package had been given a new tracking number (WTF?) and then even longer to say, "We're sorry, the shipper needs to contact us to put a trace on the package to find out where it is and why it hasn't been returned to him." The new tracking number only says "Billing Information Received" and no one seems to know where it is or why it hasn't gone anywhere since the 6th. I'd really like to know why neither the shipper or myself was provided with any updated information. Apparently as the receiver I'm a second class citizen and not privy to the inner workings of where the package I paid for is.

    UPS Sucks

Wuhoo! UPS no longer knows where the package is and won't tell me since I was only the receiver of the package. All they do know is that they assigned it a new tracking number on the 6th (which they failed to send to either the shipper or myself) and that since that time it hasn't shown any additional information. I'd be laughing if there wasn't a $400 hole in my wallet right now.
  8. Given the hand-crafted nature I don't think it's aimed at making sense to very many people.

    facial hair

Most athletes have Peter, myself included. Either as the result of an injury that required frequent taping or as prep for surgery or if you're a cyclist it's damn near a requirement. If you've ever had road rash with harry legs you know what I'm talking about.
  10. Yeah, I can't imagine someone using them in a commercial application. And I wish Frank the very best of luck if he brings his amp to market.
  11. It's a singled ended amp that can drive balanced headphones.
  12. First things first - I have no direct affiliation with this product or the vendor but I'm friendly with the designer. If that makes me biased, so be it, I guess I'm biased. Now, onto the amp. Basically it's a single ended amp with transformer coupled inputs and outputs to provide balanced operation and was designed to drive anything from IEMs to the K1000 (via selectable outputs). The tube compliment consists of a 7N7 input tube and two 307A output tubes. More details are available on Todd's site. I'm certainly looking forward to giving it a listen at CanJam even though it far exceeds the ability of my wallet.
  13. Pfft, what a wimp.
  14. Al, I'm really looking forward to hearing your rig at CanJam to see if there exists a system that I can appreciate the Ed9's on. So far I've heard them driven by one of Rudi's amps, a modified Krell and perhaps one other system and come away with at least a similar impression each time they aren't my cup of tea. I also hope to have a pretty serious single-ended HD650 rig ready for the meet but if I don't start ordering parts soon that'll be in jeopardy. Ugh, nothing like having to yell at yourself to get something done!
  15. Typically it allows you to enable/disable the safety ground (the third prong on your power cord). This can help with ground loop issues in some cases. Since this is a passive device it must be slightly different but essentially probably floats a ground connection instead of tying it to the chassis.
  16. Why so sad my robot buddy?
  17. You know, that reminds me, I never did finish Season 2.
  18. yeah, i'd never even joke about recommending the real prick from Audiogon.
  19. you know i'm not talking about the asshat that sold you the amps, right?
  20. Name a couple of shows you've liked Vicki. I think at one point I suggested something for you and you hadn't liked it, so I'm all like nervous and stuff now.
  21. How is it, Jacob? I've thought about checking it out for a while now but thought it might be a bit too black given the premise.
  22. I suggest contacting JBAudioPimp about some AT ES7's that can be had cheap, Jack.
  23. Well that's good to know, but right now I'm on a waiting list for this: http://www.popcornhour.com/onlinestore/ From what I've read these things are supposed to be fantastic as an easy-to-use, flexible media streamer that'll handle just about any format you throw at it. They currently sell on Ebay for double retail. And Peter, my current media device (D-Link DSM520) seems to be able to handle most downloaded content off of a USB 2.0 stick. If you were using the USB interface on the Oppo there wouldn't be another computer in the chain, it would be the decoding computer, unless it doesn't do what I think it should.
