Funny duggeh, the first thing that I thought of when I say that pic was, "ooh, look a painted chip, is that a RSA something?"

n_maher, so how is it with your new bundle of joy?
Thanks everyone for the kind congrats. I'm sure that the sleepless nights, regardless of how long they go on will morph into nothing more than a funny story that we tell her some day much later in life. And Mike, yes, I got the call and thanks. I hope you had a good vacation and I trust that it was much different that the week off that I just took. I'm going to fail tonight on the more pictures front, mostly because we had family over for dinner and things got way to busy. I've just put the little one down for what I hope will be a good long nap while mom gets some sleep but if last night and today are any indicator (which historically speaking, they may or may not be) she'll only be down for 10 minutes or so before she wants to be held again.

it goes pretty well. We have our good nights and bad nights, last night being a pretty bad one as far as sleep goes for mom and dad. And sorry about the lack of pictures, on thursday Windows Update decided to nuke my laptop requiring a complete reinstall. Yay, I had plenty of time to do that. Anyway, as a result I haven't uploaded much but here's a pic of lily and dad, when she was just over an hour old. I'll upload some more later and add them here or somewhere else.

Yes, it seems those at the helm are enjoying recreating the custom titles of old and adding some new ones too.

I'm sure, given a bit of time, that we can make this place look less like Head-Fi. Right now we're on the stock theme, maybe there are alternates that can easily be setup?

Post the last thing you bought!
Short term, perhaps not. Long term it'd be a lot better if people saved a bit more. I'll get there, I'll get there - I promise. There are plenty of pics, just none uploaded that I can share in a convenient manner. Right now I'm trying to get a bit of work done so I'll give the pics a shot later.

slow forum
And almost every BMW owner that I've talked to hates it. Granted, they love the rest of the car but the Idrive is awful. When an non-owner can't step into a vehicle and do something as simple as turn on the radio that's just Ifail.

Dealing with the BS pretty well. If I didn't have a functioning unit up there right now I'd be livid. The whole chassis of the new one is bent and the bottom corner broken.

Evidently not. The unit that I bought came pre-broken. Looks like I'll get to return it tomorrow.

Rockhopper balanced, I think. Might just be 3-ch single ended though, I can't keep track of all this. If it didn't show up soon I was going to send my resurrected Beta (the retirement amp that was damaged in shipping, which is now home and repaired, to the tune of multiple hundreds of dollars ) down Souf. Me - new AC unit for the bedroom, frack it's hot out. I think it was 94 in the shade here today.

My NYC representation and I have a long standing agreement concerning his HF-1s, sorry.

What did you do today?
Thanks and thanks Dan. And at least she's got an easy birthday for me to remember 6/7/08.

What did you do today?
Thanks everyone! Maura (the wife) and I are thrilled with the new addition. Sleepness nights are par for the course, the only thing I wish is that I'd been able to catch up on some sleep last week before the big event this weekend. But as with most life changing live events there's never enough planning or preparation that can be done. And we've got two great sets of Grandparents who are both eager to help out so I'm sure we'll be fine. Plus, I'm convinced there are other, dumber folks who have manged to make it through this experience so while not a cake walk I'm sure I can do it. It'll be interesting to see how well I can multi-task!

Global economics 101...Little Dot mk VI
Just nit-picking, it's not all tube, it's got a SS power supply. Otherwise there's no way that a chassis could be pulled off like that by a DIY'er for under $800. Could similar performance be achieved, more than likely yes.

Dynahi?
http://www.ibiblio.org/tkan/audio/dynahi.html I think that the only notable improvement has been folks using a sigma22 for the power supply. And it would be a pretty absurd preamp.

beatles vs. stones
As a 2LiveCrew fan I'm offended. As on who does not listen to pop music I stand by my vote. Given a choice between nothing, the Beatles or the Stones it would be a toss up between the Beatles and nothing. I've heard a lot of the Beatles catalog and what can I say, not much of it does much for me.

Dynahi?
I'd go w/ the balanced desktop w/ Home modules before I went single-ended MAX.

It will always exist, if only in our hearts. And I never voluntarily listen to either. Beatallica is as close as you'll find me.

The Headcase Stax thread
We've all been there. One of my bigger f-ups was wiring the output of the first balanced amp wrong and not only cooking the headphones (thankfully just KSC75s) but the amp managed to blow itself up as well. I think there were other issues with the amp to begin with (flawed, untested design) but even the second one I built only lasted a half hour before it fried itself as well. Nothing like flushing $400+ down the toilet.
