Yeah, those honking caps out the back are the BG upgrade as far as I know which in some ways would explain the high asking price. Still not sure retail would push $3k, justin is really the only one who can answer that definitively, or someone else who bought a BG'ed KGSS from Headamp.

Right now he's asking more than retail, which I'd point out to him in a polite way if I was negotiating. So unless there are other upgrades like BG's or something that he didn't mention I wouldn't offer more than ~$1500 or so.

Depends on who built it. In this case, since it's from headamp it's worth a good bit more than a DIY version in my opinion. New they are ~$1995, which includes the stepper upgrade so his asking price seems pretty steep.

Dan, At some point the economics of building such systems just isn't going to matter since it's going to be the only way to get around. But Dusty's right, mass transit isn't an option for me although I certainly could do my part and get a more fuel efficient vehicle to commute in.

Todd, I don't think that there's much hope for increasing supply for a decreasing commodity. And from what I've read the potential supply available from offshore drilling would have zero effect on the situation until ~2030.

Well then someone needs to come up with a better option cause the current crop is full of pretty friggen pour choices. I'd like to see a graph of the average mpg of the various manufacturer's fleets over the last 25 years, I'd almost be willing to bet the average has gone down. Yes, I have. And while I can't make any meaningful sonic comparison I can say that I greatly prefer working with the Canare. The anti-cables need to be the exact length you need or they require annoyingly precise coiling to make them look decent and still have a tendency to resemble a spring when coiled.
