More info, for the curious, here. Joss Whedon - "Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" Musical Web Series - The project is revealed !
  3. Heh, consider yourself lucky. I had the RS tip over once (fell off the center stand) at it did $2000+ in damage.
  4. You ok Jay? Sounds like you went down or tipped the bike over.
  5. You can't have honestly been expecting anything else from Captain LOL.
  6. Happy Birthday!
  7. Whoa whoa whoa whoa, hold the f'ing phone... you've got a 307A now? Or is it just on loan for the meet!??!
  8. I have no idea at what current output level amb performed his tests. You could post the question in the headwize thread if you're curious. I would expect it to perform well, but have no basis for saying that other than the man behind the design. The RAKK PS looks pretty damn simple. The basic looks like not much more than a TREAD and the premium is pretty STEPS-ish looking.
  9. I think this kit has been discussed here before. I have great interest in building one w/ the passive output (2V is more than enough for me) but as usual, no fracken time to do anything about that. If you get one built Todd, I'd probably go w/ a sigma11 power supply rather than the RAKK PS kit. I'm a firm believer that when it comes to digital there's no such thing as too clean a power supply.
  10. I think mono blocks would probably be the easier of the two build options. I know that I'd need the extra room for the inevitable layout f-up that could derail an entire single-chassis build.
  11. Pffft, you lack the requisite n_maher beta22.
  12. Cool, can't wait to see it. I've got a two channel beta at home right now that I can't quite decide what to do with that might be ripe for similar treatment for the ESP's.
  13. How are you planning to mod the beta? More gain?
  14. That's why I bough the Kosses. ESP-950 + badass amp = still less than HE60 alone. Additional bonus of lifetime warranty on ESP-950s instead of Sennheiser drivers which are damn near guaranteed to go bad and require extremely expensive replacement. In my opinion, even at the retail ~$650 the ESP's are probably still worth it just to get the headphone and toss the amp in the trash.
  15. Dangit, I wish one of the Duet cables could make it to the meet...
  16. Yeah, I was thinking that it would require a trafo replacement but that that operation might not be all that bad.
  17. I may have to start looking into this as well. I have all the parts, just no time.
  18. I wonder how hard it would be to mod this thing for balanced output? Seems to me that if it's already trafo-coupled then it should be pretty straightforward.
  19. wait till you hear them with better amps, deepak. If your experience mirrors that of Dan and I at the National Meet I think you'll find the stock amp pretty worthless.
  20. Jack, in all seriousness if anyone asked me to build this thing for them they'd better be prepared for price tag in the high four figures (decimal points need not apply). It is massively complicated, has an extremely high parts density (easy to frack up) and absolutely requires a tank of a chassis.
  21. Rough estimates are north of a grand, however Ti's example cost a lot more than that. I'd budget at least 2 grand, probably more.
  22. This day will now lack teh funnay. RIP, George.
