Ultrasone Edition 7's
Kinda strikes me like winning a stinkiest turd contest. You won, sure, but it's still poop.

Post the last thing you bought!
Bought a few 7N7s last night.

UE10 vs UE11 ?
If you find my impressions for CanJam I stated my preference. Honestly at this point I can't remember, but I think it was the 11. And yeah, before dropping $1000+ on a set of headphones that instantly become worthless to anyone else I'd say you should demo them even if it means waiting. That'd be a painful mistake.

Would you still say that if it was 23 miles each way?

slow forum
There is an element of that picture that screams, "which of these things belongs together? Come on can you tell which one? Can you tell which thing is doing its own thing?" Hint: there are two jabbas...

PC, which should have 10x the processing power needed. But it's laggy, locks up and generally runs like complete poo so far.

One more thing: am I the only one finding that iTunes 7.7 runs like complete ass. I swear it's twice as slow as it used to be.

What did you do today?
Last night, while the little one was sleeping I spent an hour cleaning and prepping the bike for riding today. I turned two white-t-shirt rags black with dirt, gunk, etc. Today: rode to work for the first time in a damn long time. It was glorious.

Hmm, iTunes tries to force the 2.0 upgrade on you before offering the 1.15.

DIY cable gallery
I generally have to trim all 4 fins when using larger diameter wire. Seems to work fine provided you don't cut it all too short since the strain relief sometimes serves a dual purpose of holding the connector in the right position.

There's something wrong in Colorado...
I'm not trying to convince you that my way of thinking is correct, only express my alternate view. Example: unknowning buyer walks into a car dealership and wants to buy a car. Car salesman seizes opportunity and charges more than car is worth. See, I have an issue with that. Taking advantage of someone's ignorance at some level just doesn't sit well with me and strikes me as pretty close to dishonesty. If that doesn't bug you, so be it, just be prepared to reap what you sow.

Dan, maybe you don't think so but I do agree that there is certainly a point of predatory pricing. I'm not sure Mikhail is there (or Ray for that matter) but both seem to like to push the bounds of what would be considered the typical industry markup. I don't begrudge either really, except in the case of Mikhail where service and quality clearly are falling out of line with price. Like or dislike Ray, he bends over backwards for his customers and provides top notch service.

No, he said cost not worth.

large pin = ground Do you not have a stock cable to ohm out? I always have to double check but since I was working on one tonight it's fresh in the memory.

Pass Pearl PCBs and related parts
Richard is a pretty easy guy to talk to and from what I understand the one who actually builds the trafos. All it would take to find out if it's feasible is to shoot him an email. He replied to mine very quickly (hours, not days) and the trafo was built in under a week - exactly as promised.

While it's not jude's problem and I certainly don't think he's bound to do anything the fact remains that he's a powerful member of the community who might be able to exert more influence on Mikhail than the combined members of this whole forum. If he chooses to step into this that's his business and very decent of him. One other thing: I question the wisdom of allowing this whole Singlepower Summer Meet to go ahead. I mean meet threads on Head-Fi have been removed because jacob was involved and he's 1/10 the pariah that Mikhail should be right now.

Help w/new amp. Surrender to...?
Can you even buy a Zana right now? I thought that the second run was sold out? If it's still available I'm hard pressed to go against the advice being given, Craig is one of the good guys.

Pass Pearl PCBs and related parts
That's exactly the kind of thing that sumr can offer, for a lot less money that plitron or Avel for that matter. In truth I've only spoken with Avel about custom one-off trafos before, maybe with a group of some size their shielded options would be more affordable? In terms of stock prices you're right, Avel is probably the best option.

Help w/new amp. Surrender to...?
If someone desired more tweakability in the 307A I'm pretty sure that an adapter could probably be made to go from loctal to octal which would open up the whole world of 6SN7s that are out there.

Moved. You need to let me know what you'd like the thread title to be. Also, you might have a look at sumr transformers. My custom unit for a beta22 will be in this week and I can that up to this point the service has been great.

What did you do today?
Not today, but Saturday I finally got the bike inspected which should mean that I start commuting on it tomorrow.
