2008 Rocky Mountain Audio Fest
It occurred to me while viewing this second round of pictures, blue truly is the color of choice for high end LEDs.

What did you do today?
Day - dropped Lily off an Nana and Papa's house and the wife and I went to the Topsfield Fair. Night - built a couple cables and the LCBPS for the Buffalo. Tomorrow - all beta22, all the time.

Just looking at that Walnut you can see how it's going to explode when it gets some finish on it.

The Official Head-Case Photography Thread.
You know what's funny, the B&W image looks much better on my Macbook then it did on my monitor at work. Mac FTW yet again.

They don't carry some stuff that I'd like them to but I'm hopeful, based on the conversation that I had with them today that they might be able to get non-stocked items direct from Italy. I've never felt comfortable ordering direct given the potential for damage on a journey that long.

Integrated Tube Amp Suggestions?
I'm with nums on this one. Looking at that amp's specs they rate the THD at only 8W which to me signals that they may be getting pretty poor performance at the maximum output power rating of 18W.

The story as I've heard it is that Teko is actually the manufacturer for the Hifi2000 line of cases, which I'm sure you've seen. I have no idea if that's true or not, doesn't matter much to me who's the OEM. But someone posted a link to the US distributor of the cases a while back on HF and while it doesn't save you much over ordering from Italy it does at least give you an English speaking rep to yell at if something goes wrong and cuts the wait time way down. I'll post the link in this thread as soon as I can find it again. http://www.tekoenclosures.com/ That's it, they have a ton of different stuff but the line I was picking from is the 19" line - http://www.tekoenclosures.com/enclosures/19.htm - which looks pretty much exactly like Hifi2000's cases to me.

That would provide a bit more flexibility in my book.

DIY cable gallery
Yessir. Stepped bits are brilliant for this purpose.

Yup, the teflon coated stuff is more than double the price. And just be aware that the bulk of this stuff is borderline prohibitive for cable purposes. Note how fat the braid is relative to the 1/8" jack and realize that you're looking at the narrow edge of the braid. Some "customization" of the plug was required.

I don't mind at all, the PVC covered stuff is $.61/ft from Take Five Audio IIRC.

I think they're just fine for most cables and when I'm trying to hold a budget for someone they come in handy.

I whipped up the latest in the line of SiALO cables the other night. Basically it was an excuse to play around with the standard (non-teflon) neotech wire. It's a bit bulky, but ultimately worked just fine.

For best transparency of course.

Need recommendation for under $100
And short of getting the DJ's repaired for the money I think the Senn HD201s are pretty hard to beat. At this point I can't remember if I thought the 205s were much of an upgrade for 2x the price.

Need recommendation for under $100
Sure, send me both pairs and I'll return one w/ a new cable on it (assuming the cable is the problem). Price = nothing. If the cable isn't the problem I'll send them both back.

You/she could try having them recabled. I'm thinking something slightly below the APS level of cable might suffice and be cheaper than replacing them.
