The Grado GS1000
walley, A bit of friendly advice: a) no one can tell you want you're going to like the best way to find out if you're going to like something is to actually try it (buy it, find a local meet, arrange to borrow it, whatever) c) acting like an asshat (i.e. your sig) will be met with swift rebuke. We're a friendly bunch with little tolerance for bullshit and know nothing about you other than the impression you choose to make. I, for one, wonder what exactly you're shooting for so far. Oh and welcome to Head-Case.

PS-1s for sale on the 'Bay
I'm pretty sure (ignoring my TV) that that's less than I have tied up in my main HT and headphone rig. Heck, you might be able to include the TV.

Indeed.

The Headcase Stax thread
The problem, at least one I can foresee, is that the Icepower modules are specifically designed to drive low impedance loads and typically trafo primaries have rather large impedances so they might not play nicely together. I sent a message to B&O about this very project and they were evidently unimpressed with my proposal.

What the hell is wrong with the Red Sox?
I'd actually prefer a beat down to losing a game 7.

How to deal with extreme lowball offers on Craigslist?
That's like quoting the MSRP for a car/truck from the big 3, meaningless.

Ignore.

MacHeads- Impending MacBook Purchase
FYI - Apogee just issued an official statement saying that both the Duet and Ensemble are fully Firewire 800 compatible: They did not mention the complete lack of firewire on the Macbook, no shock there.

ALO M3?
two words: lead bending Expect flopped caps if they're using BGs since nothing I'm aware of would fit the standard footprint.

ALO M3?
I think he's saying multiple BG's in parallel separate from the upgraded resistor comment. I really want to see pictures of the inside of one of these things.

Or just sees an extremely captive market. Hard to blame the guy for a little carpe diem, isn't it?

What the hell is wrong with the Red Sox?
No doubt that right now the Rays the better team, but as their regular season records hint it should have been a closer series (not that it's 100% over yet).

Isolation Ideas
I'd really like to see some science behind Dan's claims, specifically how he figures out the absorption properties of various woods. So far, I'm getting that fuzzy Machina Dynamica vibe out of this guy. Disclaimer: I don't think that everything audio related needs to tie back to hard science but the concepts discussed here strike me as being something that should be easily quantified and reported.

Post the last thing you bought!
It's the cocking mechanism used to charge the gun prior to firing according to the manual.

FACT: Nuts are often found on motorcycles.
I think guzziguy rides a Harley and Tyll's got a couple of bikes too.

ALO M3?
IIRC he was one of the guys who started modding the Tushi 3950's or something like that. [edit]Yup, that was him. http://home.nc.rr.com/keihin/toshiba3950/vinniemods.htm

ALO M3?
I think Manuel is referring to the question about what makes ALO's amps worth the $160 premium over Rockhopper/MisterX/etc.
