  1. The problem, at least one I can foresee, is that the Icepower modules are specifically designed to drive low impedance loads and typically trafo primaries have rather large impedances so they might not play nicely together. I sent a message to B&O about this very project and they were evidently unimpressed with my proposal.
  2. Happy Birthday!
  3. That is the newer version (see label on graph).
  4. Headroom's frequency response graph for the 770 always cracked me up.
  5. FIFY
  6. I'd actually prefer a beat down to losing a game 7.
  7. That's like quoting the MSRP for a car/truck from the big 3, meaningless.
  8. FYI - Apogee just issued an official statement saying that both the Duet and Ensemble are fully Firewire 800 compatible: They did not mention the complete lack of firewire on the Macbook, no shock there.
  9. two words: lead bending Expect flopped caps if they're using BGs since nothing I'm aware of would fit the standard footprint.
  10. I think he's saying multiple BG's in parallel separate from the upgraded resistor comment. I really want to see pictures of the inside of one of these things.
  11. Or just sees an extremely captive market. Hard to blame the guy for a little carpe diem, isn't it?
  12. No doubt that right now the Rays the better team, but as their regular season records hint it should have been a closer series (not that it's 100% over yet).
  13. I'd really like to see some science behind Dan's claims, specifically how he figures out the absorption properties of various woods. So far, I'm getting that fuzzy Machina Dynamica vibe out of this guy. Disclaimer: I don't think that everything audio related needs to tie back to hard science but the concepts discussed here strike me as being something that should be easily quantified and reported.
  14. It's the cocking mechanism used to charge the gun prior to firing according to the manual.
  15. I think guzziguy rides a Harley and Tyll's got a couple of bikes too.
  16. IIRC he was one of the guys who started modding the Tushi 3950's or something like that. [edit]Yup, that was him. http://home.nc.rr.com/keihin/toshiba3950/vinniemods.htm
  17. I think Manuel is referring to the question about what makes ALO's amps worth the $160 premium over Rockhopper/MisterX/etc.

  19. Color me highly skeptical of any company that makes claims like... "You'll immediately hear the blacker background, the more-comprehensive detail, and the greater dynamic scope that are normally possible only with much more sophisticated (read: costly) playback equipment." Translation: you'll immediately hear the placebo. And I like their "our size is the only right size" approach too!
  20. Mocha Mudslide Ice Cream - in a cup with a cone. It was just too nice out today during lunch not to walk into downtown, stare at the river for a bit and forget that the world is going to hell in a bucket.
  21. fixed
  22. I should be all set really, I think I have a Context Desktop chassis that is definitely large enough. Feel free to shoot me a PM with what you've got though, I might be able to use it for something else.
  23. I got the chassis for my buffalo yesterday, or at least the chassis that I was hoping to use. Turns out I was a little aggressive in thinking just how tight a space I could cram all this into and it's not going to work. But I guess this will allow me to select something larger that might accommodate additional modules and features in the future. If/when I get the Buffalo done I might be willing to send it around to meets like I've done with the Hertsens in the past.
