I'm going to try running it off the Hertsens tonight since I'm sure the Touch isn't the quietest thing out there. To be fair to The Project the hiss is so low that I have to plug/unplug the headphones to tell that it's there and I'm probably significantly more picky about noise floor than most. Considering the prototype nature of The Project it's performance is pretty stellar. I'm sure once it has a proper PCB, power supplies and so on it'll be every bit as good as the Pico from a technical standpoint. The Project is awesome. The degree to which you can vary the volume while maintaining perfect channel matching is insane.

So the livewires experiment has continued. I managed to secure a mini3 from my penguin homeboy, configued with a gain of two knowing that amplification is not the issue here. Booo, hiss say the Livewires. 1. If you were using a LOD like one Mr. Samuels is fond of recommending now you'd be screwed. I get damn near 0 volume adjustment with the Touch's volume control maxed out (LOD simulation mode) so I give a big , and to all the folks on head-fi who said the cure for my pain was an amp. 2. The hiss is still there even without a source attached and with a source attached the hiss gets worse. I've talked with some folks 'in the know' and a mini3 configured as mine is should be about as quiet an amp as you can find. Now I have in fact found a livable situation with the Livewires but only in the hypothetical sense. It involves an amp that I can only legally refer to as The Project and officially it doesn't even exist. The first rule of the project is we do not talk about the project, but I must. This amp has 100% matched attenuation down to below audible levels with the Live wires, and that's saying something. It also has more nail polish covered secrets than you can shake a stick at. Resistor Ray would be proud. So you custom IEM freaks might want to be on the lookout, you ain't seen nothing like it.

Eh, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, no interest in reading the graphic novel.

In my opinion it'd be worse to ship it again without knowing what's moving around or potentially getting loose. Odds are it's just a nut, but better safe than sorry.

Greg, I don't think you can hurt it by just taking the cover off. It's in a normal Par Metals chassis, right? If so you should be able to get the top off by taking out 6 or 8 screws (depending on the style of box).

I just think the tax-free status should be revoked.

I figured as much. Honestly, I don't know what to think about the whole situation in Chicago. There's just way to much damn drama there considering that it's headphones we're talking about here. And I just looked at 07's Chiunify and attendance wasn't that much higher. Some how I had it in my head that it was in the 50 to 75 range. -

deepak, it's unclear what you think is complete bullshit. -
I believe that it's largely an issue of semantics. The religious folks feel unhappy that their term "marriage" is being used to sanction an event that clearly has nothing to do with the church and those who don't qualify (that seems like wrong word) for a traditional marriage don't want have to call it something else like a "civil union" as they believe they are entitled to equal rights as a couple. Now I can't think of one legal reason why two people shouldn't be able to make their union legally binding regardless of the genders involved but I can also see what about it might offend certain religious groups. So maybe a compromise is the best solution, eliminate the use of the word marriage in the legal sense and call any non-religious event a "legal union" or something like that. Of course when you really start to debate this topic you open the huge can of worms that is why does the state have anything to do with it in the first place and fun things like polygamy which gets a whole different group up in arms.

Am I seeing things correctly that fewer than 20 members have signed up for the meet or is the list simply out of date? -

Holy hell, nothing like asking to borrow north of $10k of equipment for the express purpose of having it have no representation at the meet (an individual owner) so it can be compared to the competition (which one assumes will have the benefit of having the company's owner present). That's a big set of balls someone has. BEEEELEEEEEE -
One word, Katrina. I'd also argue that Bush had little to do with our relative safety and in fact did more than any of his predecessors to aggravate and make us a bigger global target. And let's not even get into the rape of our personal freedoms at the hands of his frenzied wiretapping. I'll be watching carefully to see what Obama is going to do with the likes of Gitmo and the hundreds (?) of folks we've been holding without charge or trial for the past 6 years. That's yet another f'ing mess he's left with.

With Headroom's current sale pricing and provided you don't mind the 1/8" output I'd be hard pressed not to take a long look at the Ultra Micro DAC. I love my MAX DAC based source.

Please elaborate on which of the 6 years you think were a success. I'm a financially conservative, socially liberal minded person for the most part so neither candidate really represented my way of thinking. But some of what McCain's platform ended up saying socially bothered me more than what Obama represents economically. And I'm sorry, McCain's choice of VP made it impossible for me to vote for him. Not so much because of who Palin is (the VP is worthless for the most part) but because it showed the type of person he was willing to choose to be a part of his administration. And I too question how much real change can occur regardless of who's in office. I have hope for now and that's better than I've felt for a good number of years.

Wait, wait, I know this one, it's the start of the new LOST number sequence...

That sucks Jay, I hope he makes as full a recovery as possible. Me: went to the polls at 7:15, unlike every election they've held since I moved here the polls didn't open till 8. Returned home and hung out with Lily for 45 minutes which was nice. Returned to the polls, voted, SSDD thereafter.
