    Custom IEM's

PM me your address Vincent, I've got a little something for you. Or, I'll just bring it to NYC with me and give it to you there.
  2. Dishes and Pills is good, Jacob, I think you'd like it. I'm kind meh about Passing Thru though. She's a local (New England) artist who I think Ian discovered and then shared. If you haven't, errrmmm, tracked stuff down by Monday let me know.
  3. There's a max/max desktop amp in the b-stock listings...
  4. I'd say you and I have very similar Sennheiser tastes.
  5. I'm not so sure, he's got a niche product (modded Denon's) as his hook, otherwise you can get the same service (recabling) for quite a bit less elsewhere. It's one thing to generate FOTM over a $100 mini-mini to suck in the Ipod crowd, it's quite another to charge ~$800 for mods to a $1000 headphone (~$439 5.5' cable, $159 markl mod, $229+ cups). Who would have thought there was a modder who could make Headphile seem reasonable.
  6. I would like to hear a plastic acoustic guitar.
  7. Yikes Ken, let us know how it goes!
  8. Have you tried any other cables with the 650s purk? I used to be a big fan of the Zu until I tried a couple others. Mind you, I don't hate it like Vicki does but there are definitely others I like better.
  9. Here, let me break it down for you. 22ga Jena wire = $6.25/ft (if bought retail from a dealer, he probably gets it for less direct, or at least he should), Furutech 1/4" plug = $13.20 (again, retail). That's it, that's all of the parts that he uses. So if you figure that with braiding you get a 30% reduction in the length of the cable you'd need 14' of wire to make a 10' cable, and 4 of them for the type of cable he's making. So total that up and you'd need 14' x 4 = 56' total x $6.25 = $350. Add up the wire and connectors and I get a parts total of $363.20. For a 10' SE rewire he's charging $589. I'd say that ~$225 is a healthy margin for a pseudo-MOT and that's assuming he's not smart enough to negotiate at least some discount on the bits he's using. It wouldn't at all surprise me if he's able to knock 25-50% off the retail prices, I know I could without breaking a sweat. Then his margins start looking like $300+. Not bad for a job that takes a couple hours. And don't get me started on the $10/ft nylon multifilament. There's no way he's paying even $2/ft for that stuff. Research ALO for more information.

  11. Looking good, Jack! I bet it sounds sweet too.
  12. I got your back Tyll. Thread moved to the Product Annc. Forum.
  13. It's good enough for me, that much I know. Sounds like you have enough stuff to order that you don't need to wait for my next order. If you want to shoot me a PM with everything you'd like to order I can place it for you and have it shipped direct to whatever address you want (at least I'm pretty sure I can).
  14. *sniff* *sniff* what's that I smell? Wood cups?
  15. Good news is that the chrome pair for sale is already scratched from storage. That makes them even more unique, you can't duplicate original JG scratches!
  16. That works as long as the length is not a problem.
  17. WOOT! Happy Birthday, Vincent.
  18. Go to your local Home Depot or Lowes and look at their bulk wire rack. You should be able to find some nice 14-3 indoor use cable that will work well. You'll still be stuck buying the connectors online if you want decent looking stuff. That is unless you've got a Pass&Seymor (sp?) distributor near by, then all you'll be stuck looking for is the IEC plugs. I'll try to get you the part number for the bulk wire that I've used but I think you'll find it easily enough. Just don't get the exterior grade stuff, it's garden hose thick and stiff. Also, I have a standing 10% discount at Take Five so if you want to wait a bit I can add some parts to my order and save you a little off list prices. I like the Marinco connectors, they're about as cheap as you'll find and IIRC they are actually rebranded and marked up significantly by more than one other man'f. Schurter also makes nice IEC plugs for less than the Marinco version.
  19. More like he inadvertently killed the thing he loved.
  20. I'm picturing the reaction as more of a "What's in the box?!?! WHAT'S IN THE BOX??!!??" Brad Pitt type affair.
  21. Thanks Haj, the font is Euro, 5-Stroke. I'm really most pleased with how the volume indicator came out, FPE released a scale generator that is really cool and makes stuff like that possible for those of us not well versed in traditional graphics design programs.
  22. Also pure win on his part with the not knowing the difference between a plug and a jack. Although in fairness I've been known to mix the two up from time to time when I'm rushing.
  23. Heads-up to the budget conscious Stax crowd, Headroom just listed a B-stock 404 for what would appear to be a very good price (see their Forum on HF). If I hadn't re-adopted my '08 credo (viva la no Stats!) I'd jump on them.
  24. Barely, but just.
