Got up, cleared the driveway. It was 7 degrees and wind gust were in the 30 to 40mph range. Not fun. Took down the Christmas tree that was fast becoming a fire hazard. Went to Lowes to buy pipe insulation, weather stripping and rope caulk in an effort to seal a few draft windows. Marginal success ratio but it'll have to do until I find 5 grand laying around to replace the windows. Wrapped up the social portion of the day with a quiet dinner and movie with the wife, which means we waited until after Lily went to sleep to eat. Finished the designs for the front and back panels of the Buffalo dac. Good start to '09 so far.

It's still insanely windy here, I'd guess the gusts are ~40mph at a minimum. I'm off to Lowes to get some materials to seal a few leaky windows.

Yup, around 6" of the white BS here as well. Of course now it's 8 degrees out and the wind is fricken howling. I think wind chills tonight are supposed to be in the negative teens. I can't wait to clear the driveway tomorrow...

Just placed the order with Sony, not sure when it'll arrive so the wheel is yours...for now!

Mike got a pretty sweet delivery confirmation number today as well, I guess it complies with the '09 rule since I shipped it in '08.

No, I'm not buying anything speaker related until I get the Cicada project under my belt and I'd be surprised if I did anything beyond that. I just don't have the space for the speakers that I'd want to build.

Forecast for me is 3 to 5 or 6 to 9, depending on who you believe.

There are certain tunes by them that call back fond memories, but I was never what you'd call a real fan. Didn't own any albums or anything, but Constantinople never fails to crack me up.

Smeggy, find out which DAP Marc (luvdunhill) got. I think it's basically an Ipod touch minus the wi-fi capability and not sold by Apple. It's cheap (like $99) and if it is what it appears to be would make a killer portable source.

Oh I've got a place to stay in LA, my sister lives downtown so that shouldn't be an issue. It'll be whether or not a ~$400 plane ticket is in the cards at that point. But thanks for the offer, could be that I need a couch to crash on the night of the main event.

16 miles from my sister's place in LA, hmmmm, let's hope the economy doesn't completely fold in the next 5 months and I'll be there with bells on. Not sure what I could bring for gear, but I'll come up with something.

There's precious little to change since any change would necessitate the sale of gear. Headphone Rig Transport: Arcam - would only make a change if it fails somehow. DAC: The Hertsens - not going to sell it. Amp: The Menace, not going to sell it. Headphones: HD650s + HF-1s, pretty content with these for as much time as I get to spend with them. Soldering Rig Source: Duet - better than it needs to be so why change? Amp: SimpleSE - can't see any need to upgrade or change this, ever. Speakers: ok, you got me, these will change, but the new ones are bought and paid for already so it doesn't count.

That should be required watching for Al, jpnums and Mike.

Sounds like a good plan to me Jacob. I too have no plans for substantially altering either my headphone or soldering/speaker rig in '09.
