  1. I'd label it neutral, and damn fast. Outside of that I freely admit that I'm not one to hunt endlessly for the last 1% of purity. It's among the best digital I've heard for sure which puts it up there with the likes of Wadia, Electrocompanient, The Hertsens and others. Could you find something that you might like better, I'm sure of it, but I'd guess it'd be a pretty subtle preference. And no worries about synergy with tube amps and HD650s (although I'm going to dismiss the "tube" aspect), I'll I've really used it with is The Menace and my HD650s. By in large I don't find the Menace to sound like a tube amp so hence the dismissal, it just sounds like a good amp.
  2. Dan, I'm semi-volunteering for the task should you ultimately end up in a bad place with Mikhail. I have a severe dislike for the way you and others have been treated.
  3. From what I understand Peter it is just a pad thing. Smeggy posted about it recently (check back just a few pages).
  4. All hail Queen Vicki!
  5. I've been impressed with the Buffalo that I built. While ultimately it won't unseat the Hertsens as my primary source that's really only for emotional reasons. It's every bit the equal of that DAC, which has been pretty well received by those who've heard it.
  6. Worst comes to worse get the chassis back and we'll have fun putting something in it.
  7. Mine as well.

  9. You'd have to ask Fitz if they've been rescreened, I can't tell. I can tell you that the listed price on HF is not what I'd sell them for here.
  10. I hope Drew can come through with the HD800 for the meet, seems like there's little to no guarantee of stock by that time.
  11. If I understand it correctly price fixing would be if HR, TTVJ and others got together to secretly mandate the prices of headphones. There's nothing that says a manufacturer can't set a price for goods.
  12. jagwire is a lucky sumbitch if he ends up with the fruits of your labor steve.
  13. Recabled and rocking out my friend (well, testing suspect amps at least). Steve, It's just back a few pages. I'll look and link. Edit - this is at least part of the story.
  14. I think that Tom might disgree with Steve and Mike since he has, to this point failed to deliver what was ordered. Delivering broken or mismatched components does not count. If so, I have a pair of K1000's to sell, just don't mind the DT770s that will show up in the box. After all, they're both headphones.
  15. I'm speaking out of turn but it's always been my understanding that the main chassis bits (the silver parts in those pictures) will be powder coated black in the finished amp. Regardless it looks outstanding Justin.
  16. I'm not defending SAA, I think this latest offering is truly a "jump the shark moment", but prototypes of the HD800s have been around for years and SAA may indeed have had a sample to prototype with.

7"+ here an still going but if it's done by you Haj it shouldn't be too long before it stops here.
  18. I'm sure there are folks in the US who would help folks out.
  19. And he's buying some odd stuff. Why buy heat shrink and sleeving on Ebay?
  20. Ian, that looks f'ing fantastic! I love the panel design.
  21. Or maybe they just sound good and it's not hype?
  22. Tom, I didn't mean for my question to sound accusatory, I was just curious if he'd slipped and actually admitted anything to you. It's not a very big leap to guess that he's having $$ problems although he's got a warehouse full of solutions if he'd just drop the price of some of his tubes or get his act together on that front.
