Windows advice.
I think I've heard 2015 tossed around, which is a pretty long time in computer years. They certainly can't stop support on it when they release 7 or whatever they're going to call it. Christ, they have to call Vista friggen Mojave to get people not to pan it the minute they look at it.

You're right, you will. How about you read for the next week and then we'll see how you do.

PS-1s for sale on the 'Bay
I would not call selling one a month a market. Who knows how low the price would drop if they became available again but Todd almost couldn't give them away when he was selling them.

PS-1s for sale on the 'Bay
Yup, by ~$100. Perhaps the ebay hunters are sick of the "this is the last one from Joe's collection" nonsense.

No, you don't get it. You're acting like an ass and going to lose you posting privileges shortly if you don't learn when to just read and STFU.- Post the last thing you bought!
Looking good Ian.- All purpose B22
The specs are where you'd want to look. The M3 consistently performs better in Noise, Dynamic Range, Harmonic Distortion, IMD and Crosstalk. Don't get me wrong, the Beta22 is an excellent performer and a fine preamp but it is both expensive and complicated to build and to me seems like a bit of a waste as a preamp. I mean do you really need a 15W/ch preamp? That doesn't sound like a preamp to me? Also, it's much simpler to implement a gain switch on the M3 which makes it more flexible in switching between preamp and headphone amp duty. My current plan is to build a balanced, 4-channel M3. We'll see how far I get with that but right now it doesn't look like I'll get to start it before summer time.- All purpose B22
What he said. Unless you insist on discrete components or need the power of the beta the m3 is the better preamp from a #'s perspective. Look at amb's own measurements if you need more convincing.- All purpose B22
If you want a headphone amp and preamp I'd build an M3, not a beta22. That's currently part of my plan.- does anyone try the LA5000 or LA7000?
You sure about that? Taken from this pile of rubbish. I'm of the opinion ,given his current business venture that his post should have been heavily edited since it's probably his biggest advertising tool.- What did you do today?
Whoa, you're in for quite a trip there. You know it's 7 books, right?- What did you do today?

[45] stainless, torx drive, 1-1/4" wood screws.- How does a beta22 compare to tubes?
I'd be shocked if anyone was running a beta22 loaner program, that's an insanely expensive risk.- My 6F8G -> 6SN7 adapter is bad! Assistance?
If other tubes are fitting well I'm not sure exactly what to make of the problem. I'll try to have a look at my adapter this weekend and see if it looks similar but it fits tightly in my amp. But I use some pretty non-standard sockets.- Post the last thing you bought!
Thanks for the offer Colin, if I end up keeping that scope I'll drop you a PM about it. I'm only going to keep one of the two that I pickup and probably sell the other.- My 6F8G -> 6SN7 adapter is bad! Assistance?
I have heard rumors, but not being an owner can't confirm, that the sockets that Mikhail likes to use are not exactly top shelf items. I have the same adapters, from the same guy and ironically enough talked with him just the other day about the issues that you are having. The pins being too long shouldn't be an issue, but I can't say for certain that it isn't. Sounds to me like you're getting a flakey connection like crappyjones was with his Extreme.- The Headcase Stax thread
Great score Colin, I enjoyed that combo when I had it.- Post the last thing you bought!
Not sure that they have any in there, might just be empty bays. I'll find out tomorrow morning. The previously mentioned acoustic foam was put to good use tonight, see the DIY thread for details.- My 6F8G -> 6SN7 adapter is bad! Assistance?
What amp are you using these in? I don't think I've seen a tube socket that can be bottomed out.- Any Grado c pad impressions around here?
Ironically enough the comments made to Ian have only served as further inspiration, not a deterrent.- Post the last thing you bought!
There's one guy in front of you for whichever unit I don't keep but if he passes I'll certainly let you know. FWIW the 100mHz unit is a 7633 mainframe storage scope and the 200mHz unit is a 7704 mainframe. Both are in rack mount chassis and that's about all I know.- Post the last thing you bought!
2 older Tektronix units, don't have model numbers yet but one is a 100mHz version and one is a 200mHz version. Both working and tested against calibrated units, although not calibrated themselves. I'll post up a few pictures when I get them home.- Post the last thing you bought!
I appear to have secured an oscilloscope that I will be picking up Saturday morning from a friend. He has 5 and agreed to sell me at least one, maybe two to help him clear some space in his workshop. - who the hell buys this shit...
