  1. If other tubes are fitting well I'm not sure exactly what to make of the problem. I'll try to have a look at my adapter this weekend and see if it looks similar but it fits tightly in my amp. But I use some pretty non-standard sockets.
  2. Thanks for the offer Colin, if I end up keeping that scope I'll drop you a PM about it. I'm only going to keep one of the two that I pickup and probably sell the other.
  3. I have heard rumors, but not being an owner can't confirm, that the sockets that Mikhail likes to use are not exactly top shelf items. I have the same adapters, from the same guy and ironically enough talked with him just the other day about the issues that you are having. The pins being too long shouldn't be an issue, but I can't say for certain that it isn't. Sounds to me like you're getting a flakey connection like crappyjones was with his Extreme.
  4. Great score Colin, I enjoyed that combo when I had it.
  5. Not sure that they have any in there, might just be empty bays. I'll find out tomorrow morning. The previously mentioned acoustic foam was put to good use tonight, see the DIY thread for details.
  6. What amp are you using these in? I don't think I've seen a tube socket that can be bottomed out.
  7. Ironically enough the comments made to Ian have only served as further inspiration, not a deterrent.
  8. There's one guy in front of you for whichever unit I don't keep but if he passes I'll certainly let you know. FWIW the 100mHz unit is a 7633 mainframe storage scope and the 200mHz unit is a 7704 mainframe. Both are in rack mount chassis and that's about all I know.
  9. 2 older Tektronix units, don't have model numbers yet but one is a 100mHz version and one is a 200mHz version. Both working and tested against calibrated units, although not calibrated themselves. I'll post up a few pictures when I get them home.
  10. I appear to have secured an oscilloscope that I will be picking up Saturday morning from a friend. He has 5 and agreed to sell me at least one, maybe two to help him clear some space in his workshop.
  11. I'd look for a packing store, they're often cheaper than you think and can come in very handy if UPS/FedEx/USPS decides to drop kick your package during delivery. Having someone who gives them thousands of dollars a year in business helps in getting claims settled.

  13. Are you fracken kidding me? Those heatsinks are teh sechs.
  14. Remember that it isn't just about impedance, leaving sensitivity out of the equation is unwise.

  16. A) How did I miss this earlier?!?! Holy shit Justin, that looks outstanding. Where is Dusty with a black comment? I'm guessing he passed out in ecstasy after seeing the pictures.
  17. Once again it's a good thing I can't give titles.
  18. CAD services available, if necessary.

  20. GTFO - Dom is the same age as me??!?! (actually older) Happy birthday!!
  21. I believe that sentence illustrates my point perfectly.
  22. The problem there being that you'll pay almost as much for a set of vintage RS-1s. Incredibly, I know, but they've been selling for ~$1000 or more.
  23. More like, he was going to argue and then decided that it's not worth his time. Some days there's a little too much universal agreement between folks who haven't heard the headphones in question. I don't doubt spritzer feels the way he does about them but he's also been known to take a pretty hard line about things like this. I mean doesn't he hate the O2 MKII as well?
  24. Sorry, I can't. It's been too long and my time with both setups was too short. About all I can say definitely is that I preferred both setups described above to the ESP-950 w/ it's stock energizer.
  25. The only time I heard them I did not like them.
