    slow forum

Yeah, I could use a laugh today so keep 'em coming.
  2. I'm in favor of prototyping as well. It'd be a pisser to order 100 fubar'd PCBs.
  3. Serious consideration will have to be given to how to handle the money so that paypal doesn't eat you guys alive for fees.
  4. Given the magnitude of what we're talking about here I think that there is going to have to be one, central money collector who can distribute funds to the individual buyers prior to purchase. It wouldn't surprise me if we order $1000 or more of just transformers, the potted and shielded units are probably going to run $75 each or so.
  5. I can talk with Richard @ SumR if necessary, I have a working relationship with him already.
  6. Kevin's designs aren't often fond of unity or even low gain are they?
  7. Outside Kevin I don't think anyone has heard a Dynafet so there's no answer to your question.
  8. Currently there are (magically) both 44 boards offering to be built and 44 requested. I have not added boards for me since honestly, I don't want any.
  9. It's virtually guaranteed that you'll have a higher noise floor with the PS in the same chassis. If pushed I'd recommend a remote trafo triggered by one of amb's e24 boards but again I think heat is going to take careful consideration especially for 4-ch folks.
  10. BLASPHEMY! Sorry, I found the movie hugely entertaining.
  11. For heat reasons alone I think a 2-box solution would be prudent. Overkill perhaps, but better safe than sorry.
  12. You've already got one (HA-2) and if I could just stop getting sick you'd have your fracken adapter.
  13. I'm not sure I've ever had that much just laying around. But if you guys want some exotic wire for this project I'll work my contacts and discounts and see how cheaply it can be had.
  14. Officially setup and tested the Nugget Audio Amplification Benchmark facility. In other words, tested the new M-Audio DAC and dummy load running the RMAA software suite. I'm sure I have a few things to tweak properly but it looks reasonably correct running the standard loop-back baseline.
  15. wut?
  16. Now if they just had sets with matching bits I might actually order some. I hate having to buy tap, wrench, bit, etc. for each friggen piece. A google turned up squat for sets but I don't have much time.
  17. Damn, those be sweet.
  18. Oh SNAP! (goes your tap)
  19. It would be best to consider that version along with the Par Metals chassis I think. The casework of external heat sinks could be a nightmare for a novice.
  20. Does the Freeware version have a board size limit, or just the 250 pins?
  21. Don't spend much time worrying about me, I'm sure we can come up with something. I'm not convinced that when folks see the actual cost that you'll need me to build anything. Ahh, the misconception that DIY is cheap...(not talking about you grawk) I errrmmm, may have access to a copy of Eagle that you could, ermmm, like use and such.
  22. And the beta boards can be a bitch in that regard too.
  23. FWIW I might be in for a couple of chassis and some other bits to use on a different project in addition to stuffing 4 boards for someone else.
  24. The way I read it there shouldn't have been any difference. It has always been my understanding that both optical and RCA type connections are S/PDIF but maybe I have that wrong? TOSLINK is an official trademark held by Toshiba so if the connection is the standard EIAJ optical connection it may not be in their interest to use that terminology at all. Futhermore I'd be surprised if the optical connection was not S/PDIF which from what I can tell has been an unofficial industry standard for quite a while, same for the RCA and XLR for that matter. Heck, after a bit more research the only non-S/PDIF connection should be the USB so use of that term to describe only the RCA connection would be incorrect. As much as you loathe Wikipedia grawk, their article on S/PDIF is at least half decent.
