  1. Don't spend much time worrying about me, I'm sure we can come up with something. I'm not convinced that when folks see the actual cost that you'll need me to build anything. Ahh, the misconception that DIY is cheap...(not talking about you grawk) I errrmmm, may have access to a copy of Eagle that you could, ermmm, like use and such.
  2. And the beta boards can be a bitch in that regard too.
  3. FWIW I might be in for a couple of chassis and some other bits to use on a different project in addition to stuffing 4 boards for someone else.
  4. The way I read it there shouldn't have been any difference. It has always been my understanding that both optical and RCA type connections are S/PDIF but maybe I have that wrong? TOSLINK is an official trademark held by Toshiba so if the connection is the standard EIAJ optical connection it may not be in their interest to use that terminology at all. Futhermore I'd be surprised if the optical connection was not S/PDIF which from what I can tell has been an unofficial industry standard for quite a while, same for the RCA and XLR for that matter. Heck, after a bit more research the only non-S/PDIF connection should be the USB so use of that term to describe only the RCA connection would be incorrect. As much as you loathe Wikipedia grawk, their article on S/PDIF is at least half decent.
  5. Wonder what the price will be?
  6. Pfft, you just want to win another won.
  7. The DT770s rattle my brain, but in a bad way.
  8. Agua De Annique - Pure Air
  9. Darconian - Arcane Rain Fell
  10. Yes, of course you can get SE from balanced the output will just be - 6db.
  11. I feel for you. I'm happy to be on the other side of it even if I'm still not 100%.
  12. I ate real food tonight for the first time since 5pm Monday. Only chicken soup, but still something other than water or Gatorade was nice for a change. Unfortunately now my appetite has woken back up and I'm seriously hungry right at bed time.
  13. It's not that bad really, I had one go boom at CanJam when someone kicked out a plug and the Menace did a couple quick on/off cycles. It is a horrible idea to ever restart a tube rectified amp with hot output tubes.
  14. Pics or... well, I won't ban you but I'll harass you and potentially release the hounds.
  15. I've had perfectly good luck with reasonable, non-NOS 5AR4s. But you do have to be aware that with some of the new production stuff that you do run a risk. JJ had a whole batch of bad 5AR4s that when arcy/sparky if run anywhere near their limits.
  16. Sounds good to me, although I not sure I'm ready to offer casework skills since I don't want one. But I could always just send the assembled pcbs to someone else.
  17. Naaman, Agreed 100% on the machined panels idea. I was really happy with the service that I got from Cam Expert and it's really a no-brainer if you can supply the material and only have to pay for the fab work.

  19. Sweet cart Al, looking forward to some time-corrected Rain Man productions with it.
  20. If I might be so bold, those unwilling or unable to build should be prepared to offset the costs for the builders. The parts count doesn't look that high per board (less than 100). Frack it. n_maher - 4 - 0
  21. What's the parts count per board? And it's one thing to populate a few boards, it's another thing entirely to build an amp soup to nuts. Even with a fully machined chassis it's no small feat with an amp of this complexity.
  22. What did that set you back?
  23. Happy Birthday!
  24. Well, I was not successful at dodging whatever this is. I've been feeling more and more like poo all day (thankfully Lily is feeling better) and the wife has only gotten out of bed once.
