  1. Hmmm, I still think I might rather have a squeezebox and have a good remote option. Granted, you can do a lot more with the mini-lappy but if a transport is what you're after the SB3 or Duet still strikes me as a better solution.
  2. Fixed bias, by definition is not adjustable. The BHSE is an adjustable bias amplifier. There are lots of amps that are described as auto bias when in fact they are just a simple, fixed bias circuit. I believe this is an attempt on the manufacturer's part to mislead the consumer into thinking that something more complex is going on. I believe that anyone who describes an amp like that would be mixing their terms.
  3. It is user-biasable IIRC, not fixed or auto. There are access holes in the top panel that allow access to trimpots for re-biasing after tube replacement.
  4. I don't think that it is at all reasonable for them to expect that on a product with a lifetime warranty that owners would keep everything. I'd call them back and tell them that they are insane and to just replace the headphones. jpnums just went through a similar situation and I don't think he sent them any more than just the headphones.
  5. Mike, I'm sure there's a way. The simplest path to me would seem to be to reformat the office drive (presumably currently not in use) as a FAT32 volume that could easily be seen by the MAC. You could then transfer the files to that external drive (if it's big enough) and simply give the drive to your friend or use it to transfer files to his drive.
  6. Woot!
  7. I'm sure I can come up with a small donation. Wish it could be more, but times are tight and all that.

I'm more in awe of the 7th from the top.

  10. That sums up my thoughts as well. She is not what you would expect.
  11. They're calling for 3 to 6 in my next of the woods tonight.
  12. Wut? Me too.
  13. Happy Birthday Dan!
  14. In my opinion CamExpert would be the place to use for this. Having an individual hand machine the chassis seems insane to me when their are automated systems to handle stuff like this. Not to mention the advantages of the software, engraving, etc. And I don't think any of the SumR trafos I've gotten have had any mechanical hum. I've got another one on the way now so I'll check that but I also have one downstairs that I'll try and fire up tomorrow to check (it's a fully potted and shielded unit). Plitron is not without its faults as well, I seem to remember having a conversation with a manufacturer about them and learning that under full load they tend to sag and consequently you have to guess and overspec them to get the desired output. I can't help but feel like they have some good marketing people who've gotten them a good rep and now feel free to charge a premium for their goods.
  15. Holy hell, is that really them? If so I can't imagine how much they're going to weigh.
  16. Link no good.
  17. Got up, fed Lily, made waffles.
  18. A function generator.
  19. Happy Birthday!
  20. The best I could come up with is this. Mike Holt) But I doubt that in the case of a power cord you would be deal with the same type of force or wire described in that article. It is interesting and I wonder if PVC would really be any more resistant to a pressure point failure?
  21. Yup, me too. I'm just about done with a 24hr forced hiatus and then I'm going to fire it up again. Between this and the new BFL album it's been a pretty repetitious week, and that's been great. I have it on good authority that Rain Man Records will be doing a needle drop of this as soon as they get their hands on the vinyl. But from what I'm seeing it isn't due to ship till 3/10 (according to Amazon).
