Ordering Help from UK member
There's a book like I'd like to order, unfortunately it is only (maybe) available directly from the publisher. Anyone willing to give it a try for me? PM for more info. Thanks!

New RSA amp...
Single ended or balanced as far as I can tell. Of course I have no idea what the Zout is of the preamp stage.

Photo Hosting
The free flickr option would probably work well for Ian. I'd migrate but there are so many threads that are linked to pbase that it'd be impossible to make it work well.

What did you do today?
I hope that's cause for celebration?

TKD pot
Was it a true stepper or just a detented pot like some RK40s?

New RSA amp...
I'm really curious to see how he prices this thing. It had to be pretty expensive to do, just in terms of the chassis since he only borrowed limited bits from the B52/Apache design. I have mixed feelings about the casework, there are parts I like and parts that I don't.

Buffalo32S DAC
x2 on that. I fully support what the TWP guys do but there are times that I wish they would stick with a design for a little while longer and not immediately jump to the next, newerbetterfasterquicker model.

New RSA amp...
I eagerly await more details.

a nod to someone who has served us well
He's already getting a set of custom headphones right? And maybe some stats too? I'd say that plus Eagle would be the better of the two choices. I don't find the idea of giving someone a choice of gifts appealing at all.

Which resistor type/make for volume attenuation ?
Are you saying your unable to lower the output voltage by following those instructions? If so, I'd look into solving that problem before building the new attenuator.

What are you listening to Part Two

Which resistor type/make for volume attenuation ?
The essential problem here is that balanced you're probably getting 3 to 4V out of your source and the amp's gain is effectively 4. With efficient headphones that's going to yield very little adjustment range.

Anyone know if JBLOUD20 is around?
Jim, Please send me a PM and I'll make sure Jay gets the message. Last I knew he was working around 80-90hrs a week and not online very often. If he owes you something I'll do what I can to make it right. Nate

Papa Monkey Wants a Rig--Seeking Advice
Dinny, What's the source going to be for this thing? I've probably got a set of IC's laying around that could fall into the box with the 770s.

Papa Monkey Wants a Rig--Seeking Advice
Shall we re-donate the DT770s to Papa Monkey's rig? They're used but they come from a good home.

HD800? Another rumor?
Why would they sound any different based on delivery date?

NAS vs. Drobo Storage for Mac Audio/Video Server
Dan, Good to know, it seemed to be that the way it was being presented in this thread that it couldn't do NAS duty.

Smiley adjustmen
As an alternate you can just click the box that says "Disable smileys in text". Then you can to your heart's content.

NAS vs. Drobo Storage for Mac Audio/Video Server
Al, If it were me I'd got NAS and not the drobo route. I hate the idea of having to have a dedicated box turned on to listen to music somewhere else in the house. I also don't like the idea of having to have my storage tethered to a machine to access it. So as I see it you have 3 options: 1. drobo or similar USB/FW RAID system. 2. pre-built NAS/RAID system (the hardcore guys like tkam will poo-poo this) 3. custom built low power consumption computer built to act as a NAS/RAID box. Personally I went with option #2 and other than some signal strength issues that I'm working on with video the audio side works pretty well.
