As the dad of a little one they make me hurt.
  2. What he said, there's no reason not to provided the proper precautions are taken.
  3. I believe the heat sinks on all of amb's boards are 100% isolated. Yes, they have solder pads and thru-hole plating but they are not tied to the ground plane that I can see.
  4. I heard a brief news story yesterday on a cool app but don't know the full name. I think it's Iphone only but allows you to listen to any of like 400 NPR radio stations. KCRW in Santa Monica alone would make this worthwhile.
  5. He took a slight tumble off his bicycle.
  6. Thanks everyone, it was a good day.

  8. As if it needed confirming...ergo, you're my hero posty.
  9. Early thanks are in order I suppose. Tomorrow should be a good day since I engineered an excuse to be out of the office for at least half the day!
  10. Got up, saw that they had not plowed my road, and started the wait. Finally around 10am they rolled through so I went out and cleared the driveway. Went into work for 5hrs. Now I'm baking chocolate chip cookies.
  11. Marc, Do you need payments for the sigma22 folks too or just the amp board folks? I can't keep up with where you guys are at with all the options, who's ordering what, which google spreadsheet is most current, etc. If someone needs money for the few parts that I want just let me know. If me purchasing a few kits is problematic I don't mind just ordering from Jeff directly.
  12. We ended up with 9 to 10" of the stuff but with all the wind it was pretty hard to tell for sure. Allegedly there's another band coming through this afternoon with up to 2" more. Joy.
  13. Nice, very nice!
  14. Forecast tonight is calling for 12-16" of crap.
  15. So after getting up with Lily this morning my wife woke up and informed me that her parents would be arriving around 9:30 so that she and I could go out to brunch. So we left Lily with Nana and Papa at 10:00 and headed to the Wentworth by the Sea Inn for a very good meal. Great way to start the month of March.
  16. Yeah, yeah, I meant 2U you bunch of nit pickers. Bottom line, as Naaman said without some fairly special tools the pins can be problematic to remove. Maybe not a big deal here, I have only seen one failed sigma22 and that was under exceptional circumstances.
  17. The 2" versions all come with pins as well. One other thing to consider is that moving to larger sinks doesn't do much to help with junction temps and may complicate the casework quite a bit. A 2-1/2" sink eats up a lot of vertical real estate, I'd recommend going with 2" so that once mounted to the boards you can still use a 1/2" standoff and have some clearance in a 3" (1U) chassis.
  18. Bummer Colin, but keep trying. I'd be surprised if there's anyone here who hasn't gotten a letter like that at some point.
  19. Crikey, I'll probably be in for a couple sigma22 kits w/ upgraded caps and heat sinks. If I may make a suggestion: see if you can get the heat sinks without the pins in them. I really dislike soldering heat sinks in place on builds like this. It makes them very hard to remove if you have to repair something. Also, removing the pins is a reasonable sized pain in the ass too. I just got done doing it to a dozen of them for a beta22 project I'm working on and it was not fun.
  20. Don't worry, his posts will be rapidly disappearing throughout the day.

  23. Spending $900 on a used output stage doesn't make any sense to me any way you put it, sorry. The purpose was not to buy a project as far as I could tell.
