Oh, and I did read part of this this morning - https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/17/sports/olympics/tokyo-olympics.html

I think we're largely overstating the risks to the athletes but I get the perspective and this is coming from a self-admitted Debbie-downer related to COVID. 1. I didn't think international attendance was being offered for fans, just athletes? 2. I thought most/all athletes had to be vaccinated? Big assumption, I have not time to read news mostly.

Depends on the relative hardness of the plastic. With wood I use the same methodology as you and let compressive forces do their thing but have no experience with HDPE.
-
I'd be tempted to drill the main hole the diameter of the threaded section and then try to use a countersink or maybe a forstner bit to enlarge a shallow portion to accept the square portion of the neck. The HDPE is probably hard enough that you don't want to assume much engagement between the neck and the material or you likely won't get it to sit flush. Some trial and error maybe required but at least it doesn't sound like you have to do this 100 times. If it's possible to do this on a drill press you should have no issue iterating to get the right combo of depth and size.

Decided to put in some speed work this morning since I was up at the crack of dawn seeing half the house off for a weekend (or more) of baseball in CT. Weather was pretty much perfect, warmish , no sun, virtually no wind.

Yeah, 57 ain't no way to go.
-
^^ Been listening to that as well. Excellent as usual and sad all at the same time. The older I get the more embarrassed I am.

Happy belated birthday, Jose!

I mean, I'm not good at math some days but that seems like a shitty profit ratio (less than 1%) in a year where there grills were one of the main things people bought when they couldn't go out to eat. It was hard to find them in stock in the spring, that much I know for sure. I hope it doesn't kill them. I'd really like them to be around for a few years to support my grill.

It was 57 when I left the house this morning. Truly nuts.

Happiest of Birthdays, Greg!

I feel your pain, almost quite literally. Technically yesterday but the news was the same today when I got out of work and the forecast is the same for tomorrow. Insanely, Saturday's forecast is for a high of 68.

Happy birthday, Justin!

A very happy birthday to you, Kerry!

Fair point, I've admittedly not stayed current on some of that having been jabbed twice. I still think and believe that with a mask and basic precautions you can lead a relatively unencumbered essential-task life (like going to the eye doctor) without much fear of COVID.
-
#ducttape Knucks, the risk of visiting the Dr (even the eye one) with even the most basic of precautions is extremely minimal. If you're two weeks post the first jab you've got ~80% immunity and the Dr's office is probably fully vax'd.

Shit, Knucks, that sucks. Options: Cheap(ish) https://www.ebay.com/itm/402883362699?hash=item5dcdb83f8b:g:fQQAAOSwRqtgsruP NOS https://www.ebay.com/itm/334033481088?hash=item4dc5f26d80:g:e5UAAOSwCVlguoUp

Similarities between Serenity/Firefly and Gilligan's Island?

I gave him a wee timeout to ponder his future here. It's not the worst first post I've seen. -
The Sounds - The Things We Do For Love I somehow missed this coming out last year so I'm catching up on a first listen this morning.
-
Cheers, Peter, for Greg and for all the others that put themselves in harm's way so that we may rest easy.

I'm confused by this statement, Reks. Can't imagine you ever parting with that watch. Are you saying it isn't officially yours or something?
