The challenge in making that is likely going to be that the main baffle will be a two-sided operation if you do it fully on the CNC rig. Honestly, seems like a project that would be best accomplished by a mix of CNC and the table saw.

RTJ hands fixed Honestly, I'm pretty psyched with how these came out and they were a great test bed for figuring out how to accurately combine/sequence engraving and cutting. Now for a light sanding and finishing and then delivery to their owner.

Pico Slim coupled with the DAC of your choice. I am not aware of any product that approached that particular set of requirements in a more focused way. I tried to convince Justin to build a desktop product with that attenuator and frankly, have considered buying one just to strip it out of the chassis and do it myself. The main problem is that a larger volume knob is desirable but might cover the output jack. It's low on the list of priorities for me since I've moved almost completely away from IEMS for home listening.

My current "problem" is that I'm tempted to see if I can get someone to buy my Shapeoko so that I can upgrade to the Pro. I've almost bought the Z axis upgrade a few times which is likely more than half the price difference that the upgrade would cost with a much smaller fraction of the improvements.

If either of you ever need something drawn up in CAD and converted to a DXF or even (maybe, haven't tested completely) an SVG I can make pretty quick work of it. I'm shite at 3D stuff, but flat vectors should be no issue.

The Pico Slim, while not a DAC, would make for an exceptional volume control if nothing else.

it wouldn't take you long to figure it out, Steve, There's a ton of info on the web about most machines. I think the routers are actually easier to approach than the lasers and printers that I've been able to use. Speaking of, I've been working on a printing project too but we'll wait to see if what I printed actually works before celebrating.

I'll certainly share the files as soon as I get the hands cut the right way. I modified the source file this morning and will regenerate the associated vector files when I get home to the machine with Inkscape. The laser that I'm running is a Dremel Digilab LC40. The uphill battle was mostly getting the right type of file generated. Converting AutoCAD to PDF (which is alleged to work) was not working and I both think that I figured out why it wasn't working and also figured out definitively how to use Inkscape to generate a vector that will cut. More experimentation for sure and the next project is already in the works to help out someone here with a project. The arrow plaque looks really cool and understand the lack of desire in sharing personal data of minors.

Yup, sure can. I don't speak for anyone other than myself when I say I could not care less about your personal headphone journey. This website does not exist to make you feel good. Members here are free to respond (or not, as is the case here) to your review. You bumping your own thread looking for gratification is not something that I'm forced to tolerate as a moderator here. So either take my friend Todd's advice above and realize that you've basically been treated with kid gloves so far or don't and you'll find you no longer have to worry about it. Last piece of advice - imagine you just walked into a bar that you've never been to before and started shouting about how great Bud Lite is and expected people to cheer. Would that seem like a normal thing to do?

I've been screwing around with the laser lately, mostly trying to figure out how to get the damn thing to cut and engrave. I'd had the engraving part sorted for a while and finally had a break though today with cutting. For the inaugural project I decided to do something that popped into my head while listening to RTJ the other day. It'll end up being a thank-you gift for the friend that introduced them to me back in the spring. Each of those is about 2-1/2" long and the source file was custom designed by me in CAD based off of the cover of RTJ4. It's mirrored 🤦♂️ because the album art I used was, so I'll flip it for V2, add a small hole for a hanger, and viola, one of a kind custom RTJ Christmas ornaments.

I thought my comment was pretty benign, Gene. This isn't really a headphone forum. Most members have been here more than a decade, date back to the earliest days of Headwize, and are friends in real life, despite the thousands of miles, oceans, continents and everything else in between. Are we occasionally rude? Yes. Were we particularly rude here? No. If you'd read around a bit even just in this forum you'd have seen that the top 10 threads are so are either Stax related or about boutique niche headphones. So no, you posting a review of your new AKG K240s was unlikely to generate any sort of stimulating conversation. Most here have probably already owned a pair. Congrats on your new headphones. My advice, spend more time listening to them then writing about them. As the saying goes, sorry about your thin skin.

Happy Birthday, Dan!

I'm back at it and figured I'd try to show you what I do. The "snake" is about 2/3's full of standard pellets (no prep) and then topped with mesquite chips. I took out the trusty torch and lit the chip/pellet mix for about 30-45 seconds until an open flame persisted. Then I simply blew out the flame which left a nice slow-burning smolder. I find that one leg of the snake burning like this will last for ~3 hours which is plenty. About an hour and a half in and things are coming along nicely projecting for a late dinner after kids finish basketball practice.

Cheers to a New Year, HC. d-_-b

I don't think you'll find such a thing (negative gain DAC) and certainly nothing called an amplifier is going to be designed to lower the signal strength. https://goldpt.com/sa1.html That's my recommendation. Cheap, no, but if don't want butchered signal and don't want digital attenuation I'm not sure I see much else short of DIY solutions.

I'd happily buy some Mysore beans, Dan, when you get to that point. I haven't seen those available thru OBR for quite a while.

This isn't really a forum for headphones.

Who the F buys biscuits when they are already planning to cook? No wonder your biscuit karma sucks, man.

😂 - oh yee of little faith, I'm already at the midfield solution. The bike normally runs 29ers (max width 2.6) and is fully capable of running 27.5s (max width 2.8) so this fall I bought a set of nice 27.5 rims for this express purpose. Once I did that I moved to phase two, why not just buy another bike to save the hassle of swapping wheels? And I solved the cassette problem by having a spare one around. I am, if nothing else, pretty adept at solving problems through acquisition.
-
Steve, you're 100% right on what cycling means to me. The "worth it" aspect is that snow and winter riding has been so limited for the last few years that having $400 tires sitting around is a tough sell to the other half. I'll probably do it anyway, but the struggle currently is trying to get her to accept the proper solution is actually another bike to run the aforementioned seriously expensive tires which makes the solution pretty effing d-_-b. Just haven't found the right steel or carbon hardtail yet.
