  1. You will have an awfully hard time getting sound out of the ground channel. Do a little looking around the Right channel and find out what the gain is. I might have a spare working channel in the drawer.
  2. That wouldn't happen to be the ground channel, would it?
  3. Ari, Don't sweat the small stuff.
  4. Wait, I feel like I've heard this tune before?
  5. Happy Birthday Brent!
  6. Even on my speaker amp the output transformers don't seem to rise above ambient temps so I doubt the output trafos on a DAC would.
  7. Yeah, but you're a girrrrrrrrrrrrrl.
  8. Donald, One other thing to consider, I see that you are using a JJ GZ34 for the rectifier. I have been told by multiple sources that there was a rather large batch of bad tubes produced last year that tend to arc and fail in a rather catastrophic manner. If you are running the rectifier very hard you might consider using another brand of rectifier. I had one of the bad JJ's in my personal headphone amplifier (which runs the rectifiers quite hard) and thankfully its failure didn't do any damage down stream.

    Cave Story

I wish they would tell you what the keys are, seems pretty random on my Mac outside the obvious arrow keys for movement.
  10. Uh, Donald, no offense, but some of us have been doing it for years. Yes, you can still see the fasteners but it's a lot less obtrusive looking in my book.
  11. I can understand the desire front mount them if you're going to hand-fab the panels but if you're going to go to the trouble of having a front panel made there's not much of a reason not to rear mount them. And if you are going to front mount them at least use something that looks decent. . And yes, I know, I'm a fussy bitch.
  12. Another front panel butchered by fugly XLR jacks, I have a strong dislike for the P-series jacks. Otherwise I like it, clean and straightforward.
  13. Can you take a picture looking down on the top of the front panel? I'm not sure how they could be using a hidden mount unless there's a false front of some kind.
  14. I would contact Stello and see if they are willing to send you a new jack already mounted to the small daughter board pcb. From there I'm sure you can find a way to get the old material out and get the new one in. Kind of disappointed to see that the jack is just glued in though, that's pretty weak.
  15. Happy Birthday!
  16. Good god, it's been months right? You sure you didn't send it to me by accident?
  17. I believe there are currently no less than 4 sets of cups that were heretofore abandoned because they were too thin to drill. I think they all stand a good change of being able to be milled on the chuck. And Steve, yes the chuck is the tits, especially with the soft jaws.
  18. I'm very curious to see what they are since if aluminum I'm not sure whether or not I will make them into a complete woody as I did my HF-1s. Of course I've also been back at the lathe recently enjoying the flexibility that the new Nova Chuck offers. My tall friend from Mass might be particularly interested in that...
  19. Do you really need a pot if all you want is "blow your damn fool head" loud sound?
  20. I believe I got mine from wirecare.com, but I'd have to look to be sure. The size that I use most is 3/16 I think, I'll double check that for you as well. I'm still working off the 200' spool a bought a year ago but there's less left than I thought... For IC's I think I've found my favorite in 24ga UPOCC in PVC. The last batch I got from Take5 had a thinner pvc jacket than some of the other stuff that I've gotten from them and worked really well. Not good for headphone cables though. For headphone cables I really want to try 28ga UPOCC in teflon, that'll probably be what ends up on my HF1s or 2s. If you want to try UPOCC let me know and I'll get you some with my discount.

  22. Yeah, the wire is stored in my basement (where all evil things belong) and the basement is colder. So in truth we use a semi-cryo process which offers the benefit of cryo while not going too far. Really, it's the perfect blend of cryo/non-cryo technology.
  23. Congrats Colin!
  24. They're interested in generating future sales. My guess is that the idea is that creating this brief run of headphones is a way to grow the brand in general while giving back to Head-Fi. Moving forward what they want are sales that don't come with a $40 penalty off the bottom line. Don't act like a jackass unless you want to be treated like one.
